The area I stayed was even more beautiful there than I expected.
However, I woke up to misty rain and then it poured down all the way home. While I had pretty good weather while I was away apparently where I live it has been wet and miserable weather for DD. I nearly crashed on the way home as I thought a road I'd pulled on to was a dual carriageway when it wasn't!!! Shortly after I stopped at a cafe for coffee to get in the right frame of mind for driving. I had a wander around an art gallery and bought a couple of art cards. Yesterday I bought some clothes - a couple of jumper dresses and a long sleeved top for £66. The dresses looked designer to me and seemed a great price for something unusual and warm!
I've had heating all week while away - including underfloor heating - and the contrast on getting home was huge. I put the heating on for a couple of hours - which only brought it up to 17! DD has been using the electric blanket I gave her - and I have mine on too. She loves her blanket now. She complained it was cold while wandering around in shorts, a crop top and unzipped hoodie... [eye roll]. It was cold though. I'm now sat with one of my new jumper dresses on.
It was windy here recently and DD thought some roof tiles might have slipped so I was worried I'd end up with a couple of hundred pound bill. I've wandered all the way around the house and the tiles look okay. I think it was just the noise of the meter cupboard. The door on the gas one was swinging back and to with a creaking house of horror noise and the door on the other had fallen off from where it had been propped closed!! That was probably what scared her. I've wedged an old bin right up to the one where the door is propped shut to keep it closed. I'll use some masking tape when it's not raining to sort the other. Not a lot else I can do. I bought external latches recommended by Sandy previously but BIL said they wouldn't work on mine... He did try.
In a while I'm taking DD to pick up a parcel and then to Mr As - where I'll have to get more loo roll. Then we're hoping our fave Chinese might be open so we can have that for tea. I need to defrost some chicken. The city trip is no longer on for tomorrow as the weather isn't right and DD isn't feeling well. I'm really hoping she doesn't pass it on to me - but given we chatted for a while today and she kept coughing etc - I don't rate my chances.
£co are sending me another voucher for just short of £12. Very happy about that.
I haven't yet done a tally up of all my spending - but not looking forward to that part...
I helped DD work through a budget a month or two ago - and since then she's really bumped up her savings. Proud of her. Progress. She also asked for reassurance that I wasn't going to bump up her monthly contribution in the latest COL crisis. I reassured her she was fine for now. Good that she's thinking ahead and planning.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

A big well done to DD for actually thinking through the possible outcome of our CoL situation. You must be pleased that she is able to work that out & realise there may be a problem.

Thanks @badmemory
I am pleased with her.
@Four_Seasons I avoided the steps. I am the kind of person who trips over their own feet!
