Thanks and welcome @Moralpanic
Well everyone's well wishes for my job must have done the trick. Worked over 10 hours today. Sadly, I still need to make up some time - but not as bad as I was. I got the most important piece of work done so that felt a real result. My living room and kitchen feel so much more peaceful now the cleaner has gone through my clutter - and binned some stuff. She's even put together a letter tray for me and put my papers inside (novel idea).
I may nip out and buy some minced beef and mushrooms and onions so I can make a spag bol. Also want more water... Scared that could mushroom into over-buying though. (Excuse the pun). I can't find my 'snack chamber' since the cleaner tidied though. I texted her but they're not where she said... Could help with SW unless I'm tempted to replace them... (Likely)
The bumble bees are out in full force on my sea holly again. I love watching them from inside as it amazes me how many are attracted by these relatively small spiky balls of flower. I also have butterflies visiting my purple buddleia. Some of my plums are now ripe so I need to develop a plan for those. I ate an apple from my tree the other day. I have three full of them - but they are all still relatively small. I have a two tone pink hibiscus in flower - which hopefully should mean a purple one I have should also flower soon. My sedum Autumn Glory has now developed cream flower heads which will gradually turn a pinky red. I still have a few pink roses - plus my pots of bedding plants. A few blackcurrants are still ripening under the apple tree. I also have pink spikey flowers (persicaria). Some lavender is also still in flower. I also have some pink flowering weeds - they are tall - fill a gap - what's not to like!
Hope you are all having a good week. I have to confess it's so nice knowing I'm about to have a 4 day break. I've just chased the handyperson to find out when he's coming back. I feel like I've spent too much time in these 4 walls recently so need to make myself go further afield.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

@savingholmes you are quite right to prioritise your well being ahead of spending time with emotional vampires, family or not. Your weight loss is fab and what a difference your PIP money is making to your life. Congratulations again love Humdinger xx5

Glad you got the work done. It's horrible when tasks are hanging over you. You can enjoy your break now.

Thanks Beanie, MF, Jwil, GAP and @Humdinger1 - thanks for the vampire reference as I was struggling with misplaced guilt.
Still not set off for work. I really get on with my boss though so it will be nice to see her later. I learned a (distant) work colleague had died yesterday. He was younger than me - a nice person but smoked like a chimney etc. Things like that make me question my balance between life now and saving for the future. I like my financial goals as I want to keep as much of the extra income as I can for now - but need to balance that with not putting too much pressure on myself as who knows whether future self will live long enough to benefit.
I will continue to focus on sorting the little things that make life better. I chased the handyperson but he's been ill so won't come until next week at the earliest now. I'd love a new kitchen but if I did that - I would want to save up first... so that's still a long way off. I'm looking forward to him putting up the arbour for me though. I already have a hidden part of my garden that no-one can see into from outside which I love. It has mahonia on one side - and I've created like a little bower using a red robin shrub. I have a plastic storage bench there - and sat and journalled at it the other day. Then there's a smoke bush next to the red robin that has plumes of 'flowers' and then a huge tree. Blocking anyone's view from the other side is my flowering buddleia. It's my former veg patch and former pond that full of weeds... This part has bark down and weed matting which has helped.
I didn't shop yesterday. Didn't trust myself to stick to the list. Taking (tinned) salmon, jacket spud and peppers, tomatoes and lettuce to work for lunch. Right - well I'm well and truly late so best get off now. Have a good day all.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I’ve always wanted a little hidden nook in my garden but my current garden wouldn’t allow it. Plan for my future home maybe?4
