Had nice chat with DS. Looked into guardian scheme but the areas he's interested in living it doesn't seem to offer much saving. He has found a few more options to investigate on another site.
He basically needs to find a way to increase his income which he is working on.
Today I knocked over and broke a fan I only bought a week ago. May try and return it.
I also burned my hand on the oven...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Not sure if this will help you but I have oven gloves that are gloves and come up to mid forearm. I have far less oven burns since getting these. They were from L@kel@nd (a gift) but I imagine you can get them other places too.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Hi SH, just wondering if DS has any ties to the big smoke? If he's looking at changing jobs anyway, would a change of location also be an option?2

Thanks GAP
On oven gloves I had forgotten to use them as I was putting something in rather than out and caught the top of the oven.
Some oven gloves don't fit but yes I should add better ones to my list.
@SuperSecretSquirrel He isn't ready to change location. He is applying for better paid jobs and trying to get freelance work too. I have nudged him to look at more affordable living options.
@TallGirl Looked into that but they are around the top of his budget too.
I gave DS some money - possibly partly Xmas and birthday early as his need is greater right now. He is my equivalent of donating to a food 🏦. I also loaned him £ as he needs to move etc and otherwise he'd be paying 40% interest. He is still paying for past debt and that is crippling. I have suggested he reduce his debt repayments if he can as they are unrealistically high currently and that is perpetuating the cycle.
I am now at my favourite Italian restaurant about to treat myself. I am also buying a pretty plant with star shaped flowers.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Today I made myself take some things back to the shop as I have been getting a little carried away with spending recently. £70 is on its way back to me. I've also arranged to send some inflatable rings back to Am**** and have bought a better, cheaper one - so the net effect will be another £10 refund - taking me to £80. Need to take them to the PO tomorrow. Now I've moved most of my new money to savings I feel skint again. Deliberately seeking to avoid 'lifestyle creep.'
I still need to tell the taxman re my company closure.
My cleaner did the extra hour today which was lovely. She hung my washed clothes in my wardrobe for me and put clean covers on the bed - as well as all her usual stuff.
My tradesperson is coming Friday afternoon now which gives us a bit more time to finish painting the wall that the roman blind is due to go on. I'm really hoping he thinks the stairs are fixable or I will have to pull £ back out of savings but that's partly what they're there for.
DD and her friends have booked to go on two holidays. I paid on my CC for the first for the protection and she will repay it over a period of months.
I'm thinking of going for another long weekend down to London perhaps in September as another mini holiday. I've set money aside for that already. While I could stay with a relative I'm more like to stay in a P Inn so will look for deals. I'll potentially go to K*w again and meet up with DS. Once DD's friends are back at uni - DD and I are going to go to a gallery in another city and then she may stay overnight with her friend.
It's much cooler here today which is a relief. I've booked a grocery delivery tomorrow - and my neighbour accounts for about half of what I've ordered. I need to make sure that my food stretches though as I'm over-spending on food and miscellaneous (think fans and the like) currently. I got carried away and bought a sun tent recently £15 and a collapsible trolley - another £10 which I'm debating whether to keep or take back. I would like to go to the beach this summer as a day trip so I bought it for if I did that.
Hope you are all having a lovely day.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
