In other exciting news - I feel like I am finally living! I've just booked to go with a new friend to a comedy show this evening. I am very excited. I've previously watched them for years on TV so am very happy!!
Last week, my neighbour mentioned a local theatre that I tend to forget exists. I looked at it for upcoming acts and found that this show I fancied. They also have another comedy act and a separate music tribute act in June I fancy (handily after June payday) and a ballet I like the look of in October. I've also been looking at NT outdoor theatre and have written down a couple I like the sound of in June and July. Making myself go to things can be really hard - but I usually enjoy them once I'm there. My neighbour fancies the tribute act and might go to the ballet with me - although I haven't booked either yet. I feel like I'm finally making some of the social connections I've been missing - and living - which with the pandemic felt like it was on hold for the last 2 years - and with debt busting - for many years before that.
My world has felt tiny for so long - but now it feels like it's finally opening up.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Congrats on the regrade.
The show/comedian sound good.
Might be worth checking if your local theatres have a member option. I pay £20 a year for mine, perks include no booking fees (as these are £1.50 a head and there are 7 of us, membership pays for itself!), early access to tickets which means better seats and also when shows aren't sold out they offer seats for free (!) or like £5-10 as they prefer bums on seats.DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Great news on the exciting things to look forward to! I agree about finally getting back out there. I finally met someone yesterday in person who I've been working closely with for a year."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Thanks @jwil @Baileys_Babe @ohdearhowdidthathappen @skint_spice @mickeyh-s @mark55man
I went shopping yesterday to an outlet mall and got a white pair of beach trousers that went perfectly with a multi-layered tunic I bought last year. A pair of bright blue cropped trousers. A pair of navy cropped leggings. Black formal trousers (I didn't have any that fit before!!) and some underwear. All for £72. I think it's a combination of having been skint for years and the pandemic and having catch up spend to do - now I'm going out more I need different stuff.
The show was good and I had a good laugh with my friend. The seats were an extremely tight fit - definitely need to take action!
@ohdearhowdidthathappen They do have a member scheme its £30 per year - but it didn't mention free or reduced price tickets. I'll check if that's an option via a friend. We've agreed to meet up again in a few weeks and do more art. She's bringing the canvases next time.
DD and her friends ran into trouble last night. A friend was hospitalised!! They've agreed to do different activities moving forward to reduce their risk. I am relieved about the latter and grateful that the girl concerned seems to be recovering okay. Ex is coming to pick up DD soon and then he's taking her to work tomorrow saving me a 100 mile trip.
In the spirit of 'living more' and 'taking action,' I have booked an outdoor swim this afternoon. It's part of my membership plan so pre-paid effectively. I am going by myself so I can pace myself and do as much or as little swimming as I want. It's a little windier today but still warm out. Now I need to check I have a costume that still fits!! Wish me luck!

Thanks @jwil. Thankfully my swimsuit fit - and I did 1.2km. I did take a 10 minute break halfway through. I think that's my best in decades. It suggests that although invisible (muscle wise) the balance classes have helped as that was my first swim since about last August! I am going to try and make going swimming and doing walking and gardening a more regular part of my regime. That way when I do go away to places I can also maximise the benefit.
I am going to try the 'one thing' method. What's one step I can take today to improve my health and fitness? The swim was one. I bought some food on the way home and treated myself to some gorgeous multicoloured tulips. I also as I reminded myself on @jwil diary - bought strawberries, raspberries, grapes, salad and veg etc as well as my less nutritious items. I got a few YS and clearance items too so feel I got good value.
Hope you are all having a restful weekend. When I had almost finished my target lengths (double what I expected) - I floated for a while star shape in the pool and it was gorgeous. I felt so at one with the world and at peace.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
