Thanks @Baileys_Babe
Today I defrosted some garlic chicken and had that with mash potatoes, carrots and sweetcorn. Feeling blessed by past self. I have some mash left for another day. I've put some soup out to defrost. I'm also defrosting some pasta and bolognese sauce - one I defrosted a while ago had gone vinegary somehow - but I'm hoping that one is okay. If it tastes okay the latter is enough for 2 meals. My freezer is still like a tardis though - so still have other options.
I may also defrost some frozen berries over the weekend - as I have a pancake batter mix I can use and they would be lovely together.
I had a go earlier at making banana bread in the microwave - but I think I slightly over-cooked it (3 mins) and should have added some milk or something. I'm tempted to have another go. I ate half of it with 3 (free) tangerines so they gave it a nice tang and offset the dryness. Kind of food optimising. I woke up today with really bad cramp in one leg so wanted banana but they're all black so not appealing raw.
I ordered a new rear heating element using my CC £35. Hope it's that and that DD or her workmates can sort it. My oven is minging though so also ordered an astonishing productto help with that. Apparently a clean oven reduces your energy use. Who knew?

savingholmes said:Well I feel blessed. I have beautiful red tulips for free, 2 lots of citrus fruit and ready prepared meatballs. I had the latter with jacket spud as a late tea. They were really nice. All in all I reckon what I got was £8 of food and flowers for free. Not bad going at all!

Great Olio freebies
I bought one of those radiator cleaning brushes as I can never get the grill off ours. A clean radiator apparently also saves energy. Several weeks later it's still in the box! 🤦♀️"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
