Your diary moves so quickly. Thinking of your parents and hoping Covid doesn't hit them too hard. Hope you have a good night's rest after all of that drivingIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

I can't say I'd fancy a 100 mile round trip before work either SH - hopefully the days of you needing to do that will be numbered if DD's car turns out to be OK for her.
The suggestion being made on the energy board a fair bit re DD's is that if you feel reluctant to put it to the suggested level now then keep a really close eye on not only what you're using now, but also on building a buffer against what may happen in October as well. I know we've decided to stash away the £150 council tax rebate, we're still saving the additional £50 a month we have been, and then of course there will be the £200 incoming in October which will give us some added credit ahead of the colder months with luck. I'll also be using the next little while to build a picture of what our use is likely to cost over the winter months to make sure that the amount I'm budgeting will in fact be enough. It's a crazy situation for a western country to be in though.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Well done on keeping so many things moving along positively savingholmes!
Glad to hear that you are considering Slimming World and even better if you can get it free. I am finding it really helpful so hoping you find a way to get started on it too.4 -
In take my hat off you.
I could not do all that driving & then do anything at all all day.

Thanks DIA, Beanie, EH and @try_harder DIA - my parents don't seem too ill so far - just hope it stays that way. Bad cough seems to be the worst. My mum seems slightly worse than my dad.
Not my idea of fun doing that kind of driving either Beanie, EH especially not first thing. I am not a morning person. I struggled yesterday. Much better today.
EH on the energy thing - I think because I'm a new customer they are over-estimating my spend and not accounting for summer low usage. Also with getting divorced - I've no idea what the impact will be of less people in the house... However, I think a lot of us will learn to wear dressing gowns and slippers etc over our clothes rather than pay these prices.
TH - I haven't listed the other things yet. It's poured down with rain here since the weekend and I've had really busy work days and then DS back (from down south) this evening. Will try and start listing for this weekend - they seem to sell better then anyway. I made about £100 selling stuff this last month which I think is my best yet.
I went to Mr As and got my prescriptions and got more milk and some apples. Will try and use up some of what's in the freezer. I had a really nice curry and sweetcorn yesterday from the freezer on jacket spud - it made a nice change. Today I used some frozen peppers & sweetcorn and fresh onion with a cheese omelette and a jacket spud. I skipped tea. Went out with DS for a drink and a pud at the local pub - got 20% discount it all helps. C00p has been good for discounts for me recently 50p of fresh fruit and things like that. They have just given me a voucher for £2.25 off a £15 spend which is pretty good too. I have batch cooked meals in the freezer so should have variety while keeping my spends low. DD has found quite a lot of frozen fruit in 'her' freezer so I can start doing breakfast oats with vanilla light stuff etc.
@happihorse - it was seeing you do SW and a few other diaries that prompted me to think about it again. My weight is going down again the last few days - so I wonder if I am now taking the tablets at the right time for me and if that's helping too. I've also been eating more sweetcorn and nuts which tend to help. My GP said I can self refer so I've emailed SW as my consultant certainly doesn't know how because I asked yesterday. He is aware of others in the group who have free referral codes though so it seems to be doable in my area.
Hope you are all staying positive. These are memory making times - but it's up to us to create and preserve the right ones.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Great news on the weight loss savingholmes and that's fantastic if you can go to Slimming world for free. I am kind of enjoying the group chat too despite that not really being my thing. Everyone is very encouraging and it's nice to be able to talk openly without being embarrassed as there are lots of people in the same boat.

Thanks @try_harder and @happihorse
Life is busy - very true - but I imagine it's the same for most people. I'm grateful my kids are grown up. DD came back tonight. I went to my balance class. It went well. I've cancelled tomorrow.
I've had another attempt at Olio so will go and pick some stuff up shortly. I'm hoping I get meatballs, clementines and tulips (my fave flowers). It all helps.

Well I feel blessed. I have beautiful red tulips for free, 2 lots of citrus fruit and ready prepared meatballs. I had the latter with jacket spud as a late tea. They were really nice. All in all I reckon what I got was £8 of food and flowers for free. Not bad going at all!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
