That's a ridiculous price, no wonder they say there's no benefit to just changing the lenses.
Good luck with the sales, it should encourage you to get stuck in and list, list, list.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5 -

Ouch to the glasses, I thought mine was bad! Hope you get some sales to cover it."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

I've listed something on FB and 3 people have tried to scam me with links already. You'd think they'd be cleverer as they had very obvious foreign names and it was a cut and paste url job!! Still disgusted.
I have listed a bike, dog crate and a wheelbarrow type thing so far.

@Baileys_Babe Thanks for the articles. I did look earlier but hadn't found them - so thanks again. Doing a bit of reading on the net - they say with varifocals it really matters where they position the gradients so I may check out others - and maybe even pay for the Wh1ch article - for which they want to charge £3 as an intro rate - but I don't want to compromise on quality...
Looks like I may have my first £30 towards it via a dog crate - I originally bought for £60 - that Ex left out in the rain - and I rescued when I found it after the divorce and put in the shed. Someone around the corner is potentially buying it via FB. I hate to think how much money we wasted over the years not selling our 'pre-loved' items.
DD is going out clubbing. I am her taxi on the way there but she's sorting out her way back. Hope she stays safe.
Thanks everyone for the good wishes for my parents. They seem to be recovering well. Struggling with exhaustion rather than anything more serious which is a relief.
I've taken photos of other things to sell. Will see what goes. Just small items at a few quid each but hopefully they will add up if they sell. I'll try to list some bigger items tomorrow. It is motivating when things sell - especially when you have a specific purpose for the £.
DD can't/refuses to understand why I could possibly need to sell anything on my wage and doesn't get why I'm bothering. One day she'll get it. Until then I just need to smile and walk away. Every time I mention any kind of bill she tells me I should have sold the house. She doesn't understand the current housing market. Or the costs of moving or the uncertainty etc. If I'd sold I couldn't have bought this quality of house again and the way the housing market is - there's no guarantee that the smaller options would have ended up being that much cheaper than this. Etc etc etc.
That was before the optician. When I came back I asked her to guess how much my new glasses would potentially be. She started at like 50-100£ and was blown away by the real quote - although TBF - so am I!!! Meanwhile I'm watching a film and playing with a white pen on a black paper book. It's so pretty!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I guess DD has a point, you could have sold up, moved away or got a 1 bed place 😉 she doesn't see you've done this for her.
She'll begin to understand when looking for a rental, getting one and receiving the first gas and electric bill, while trying to run a car, wanting to go out with friends etc. For now it's a fantasy world where only fun money is needed.
Keep up the sales and listings, while you now know it was wasted money, it's certainly coming in handy!

First of all beautiful artwork !
Such good news about the regifting ,the food bargains and the Olio .All looking very positive5 -
Love the artwork shown above SH.
Well done on the selling of preloved items. Hope your parents are on the mend. Covid seems to be doing the rounds locally with some having it for the second time.
Re the glasses, have you thought about lenses that react to light levels so when you go outside, they darken and when inside they remain clear? I’m sure they have a particular name but I can’t remember it. No need for extra magnetic sunglasses then.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.
