Buy good quality drill bits as well, as they do most of the work.1

In your situation, I would buy a good second hand corded drill. Corded drills are cheap on the used market and there are plenty about that have hardly been used.
I've found cheaper drills more inclined to mess up a job when I've used them with chucks that come undone, or a poorly centred or even just the drill being less refined and harder to handle.
Same can be said of cheap drill bits and screwdrivers. They don't last long and some of them a done the first time you use them.
Some of the quality ones will last your lifetime.
In terms of bits and accessories, save for buying a small set with commonly sized wood and masonary bits, I would look at buying them as you need them. It's hard to anticipate what you will need your tool kit for.
Cool, I was also looking at that but most screws and driill bits come in packs of 20+ on Screwfix and so I tend to think, I will probably need like a few of each, not packs of 20 - hence I thought of buying the small sets with a few of each type.0 -
The Bosch multi construction drill bits are very good. You only need one, the 6mm one.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?3

I’ve got one of the £15 corded drills from Argos. It’s amazingly good for the money. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1

For a newbie to DIY and tools, I'd recommend buying new over 2nd-hand every time. Unless, perhaps, it happened to be from someone you knew and trusted.Buying 2nd-hand introduces a whole range of potential issues, and if you aren't familiar with these tools, you won't know what to look out for.Too many good value tools available these days to worry yourself about this
'Parkside' by Lidl also seem decent, from what I can see.

Bought a DeWalt DCD 776 with 2x 2Ah batteries and it does everything.
More versatile than corded.
Some of the cheap drills have NiCad batteries but best go with Lithium. Larger the capacity the better but a bit more expensive.
For basic DIY tasks around the home, I don’t think
you can go far wrong with either one of these:
