Jenni_D said:You are entitled to your old van back, or the value of the van if it is not possible to return it. As the only financial record of the value was the trade-in value then that's what they'll say should be reimbursed (as well as the balance you originally paid). You might struggle to argue otherwise as to the value of the old van.
50p per mile seems very high though, and way higher than even the worst of the PCP/PCH companies' excess mileage charges. 20p would still be high but may be more palatable. However ... what was the starting mileage and what is the current mileage? (+700 miles on 5k miles is much more significant than on 50k miles ... on the latter it is noise/negligible as to the impact on the value - especially as used values are so robust right now).
so would about 25p a mile be more realistic figure ? Van had 99,000 when bought done 750 miles on it, so 99750.
I was told my old van was being sent to auction, they just gave it a glance over when I took it there on the days of exchange (. 1 st they seen it) . As long as it had mot they didn’t seem bothered about the condition, so I guess they had a set price of the pictures and reg I sent them a week before.
Just had a look online to buy a van similar to my old one average from £1800 to £35000 -
750 miles on 99k is negligible and should have no impact* whatsoever on the resale value... any mileage deduction should be nominal (if any at all). I'd say 5p per mile and they should think themselves lucky.
* other than it puts it that bit closer to the 100k mental barrier.Jenni x2 -
I’ve had 4 phone calls from them, and on each call I have asked for their email address, they want to do it on the phone.
one salesman quoted don’t do email for security issues ( what rubbish) I guess they don’t want anything in writing
Managed to get email this afternoon and forward mileage screen shots
What questions do I need to ask going forward?0 -
Got my refund paid into the bank today. We agreed on a £300 deductible for the mileage use.
Now to find a nice euro6 van.
Thanks to all for the. Input.0 -
I think you got fleeced on the mileage charge (40p per mile) - but as long as you're accepting of the overall deal.Jenni x1

I could have played tennis with them for a few weeks on the mileage charge. Maybe got it down to 20p p/m But hassle wasn’t worth it for me, £150 less but piece of mind =result.1
