I’ve already got red lentils so I’ll use those. I’ll post my shopping list later on today. Have ended up spending most of the day at business, taking down walls and going to the tip am exhausted! Ended up doing from 9-5.30!

Found out my grandad had a heart attack last week 😢, no one thought to tell me…. He’s home now. I’m going to go and see him tomorrow and take him to the drs. I need to go to the tip first, also pack and do the dishwasher, then drop the dog we’ve been looking after off to my friends, then I need to drive 3.5 hours to the hotel. So all A bit busy!

Thank you @dawnybabes I forgot about peppers!
  • @Makingabobor2 Tbf I normal do sweet potatoes mixed with normal potatoes mash for the texture but I make it, freeze it and then defrost in the fridge. Bang it in the microwave with a little water as it can be dry and it's turned out fine so far. I also make cottage/shepherd's pies for one with potatoes and freeze them and they also come out fine.

@missymoo81 I'm so sorry to hear about your grandad, l hope he's doing okay

Thank you @MsPennyMinder as I’m out and about today I doubt I Will post much until later. Made pasta bake last night but OH wasn’t overly chuffed as no meat. He didn’t say anything apart from did we have any ham to go in it. We didn’t. But next time I will put bacon in if I have any.

@missymoo81 - it might be worth buying a pack of bacon bits - think they're less than £1 and then sorting it out and freezing in small bags to add to various things - like the pasta bake, carbonara (rather than chopping good rashers up!); quiches etc.  A little goes a long way.

The more veggie dishes you start to sneak in the more he will get used to them. My other half often doesn't notice when we have a veggie day now.

Sorry to hear about your Grand dad. Hope he is on the mend.

He’s ok sometimes, even the tiniest bit of bacon would make a difference. Bacon bits are a great idea thank you.

I’m currently at the hotel, had the worlds biggest breakfast, feel a little sick to be honest, so I won’t be needing lunch. Going to have a walk and have a look in the shops for Christmas presents. Will sit and do budgets later. It’s weird having time!

Hope you have a good time and get lots of books read at the hotel @missymoo81.  And hopefully you won't need much for lunch and the dinners will be super cheap!
