No of course you’re right. I’m feeling really unhappy and unsettled at the moment and I’m not sure why. Just like there’s very little to be happy about. Have my big interview on Monday which is worrying me too. Have a day at home today after a quick meeting at 0910. So will try and get things in the house a bit better.
  • If I don't get chance before hand good luck with your interview on Monday. Sure you will do great.

ah thank you @RelievedSheff I very much appreciate it. So feeling slightly more positive today, after having a couple of conversations. There was a bit of a he said she said thing going on at adhoc job, which left me rather annoyed and confused, bt someone else that was in the same meeting said that I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Just wish people would 'play nice'! And had a conversation this morning with someone about interview and that has helped. Going to spend all of my free time over the next few days prepping. its in front of 4 people and is an hour long so slightly nervous.

Going to sit and do my budgets in a sec, have made myself a coffee, have been reading Tillys thread, Thanks @Cheery_Daff for the link. I really would like to get everything in order finance wise so that I can start overpaying the mortgage. Have earned a lot more than I thought with the adhoc job, so going to see if there is anything left over when I've sorted everything and keep it in a separate account until August in case I need it then pay it off as that's when I think i can pay it, before the next year of interest is added. I do feel like I am back on the wagon somewhat. I very nearly bought lots of things I didn't need last week, but have now realised how bad that would be. Right be back shortly with budgets.

Trying to work out how it would work if I used my savings to work a month in hand. My problem with using wages month by month is that I’m being paid random dribs and drabs throughout the month, no idea when or how much.
Money never gets put into the right ‘pot’ and ends up getting spent. I’m trying to get my head around it.
so my bills come to about £1100, then there’s £500 for pots, for spends, Mays dancing, xmas etc etc.
obv all bills always get paid but nothing gets put in the pots.

so if I worked from savings I would change over the £1600 into current account to pay bills then transfer to pots. Then when wages trickle in, take it out into another account until the start of the new month where I can divvy it up again. Then anything left can be saved? Does that make sense. I’m not sure. I’m a little lost.
  • @missymoo81 I’m not currently working a month in hand but that’s what I used to do! Used savings to live off for month one then as we got paid we put it aside for the next month. The key is not to dip into money coming in at all as you do need it for the following month.

Ah hey @Bluegreen143 I really appreciate that. I really need to catch up on your diary. I think I might try but like as you said I need to make sure I don’t dip into it!

I think it's definitely a good idea if you can be disciplined not to dip into it.

Ok have just done my shift at work and am now working on my interview prep. Just in a coffee shop paid for by vouchers. Me and OH are looking at the cost of living etc and trying to work out electric cars and fuel cost again. Not that we can afford a new car but we need to weigh up tax write offs and fuel saving etc. Both businesses are picking up a little which is great. Will do some more sums later.
