I feel like I’ve spent a fortune just today!!!! I’d definitely like to do a little bit of a challenge this month. What kind of thing were you thinking?

I’m wondering if I can get away without spending any money on wants as opposed to needs. I have a £200 spends budget which I really haven’t got the money to actually have at the moment. I do have things I need to pay for but  I have £40 in the clothes budget which will buy the children fancy dress costumes for Halloween and school. I’ve got money budgeted for birthdays so that pays the parties that the children have been invited to. I have a £10 voucher for coffee and a free drink. I need to use my reusable cup too. I have some cash I can use if anything comes up, but I don’t want to use anything from my bank account if that makes sense.

That makes sense! I’ll need to ponder on what I want to do.

I’d like to cut my grocery spending, even if just for one month, I spend tons atm.

I don’t think it’s doable for us not to spend anything on wants. But I could think about how to limit it.

The kids have their own pot for clothes, activities, outings and pocket money - I use their child benefit for this and it’s built up a little previously but now been reduced lots because we’ve done a lot this month and they both needed lots of new clothes. So I could aim to spend nothing on days out except for 2x swimming (which we’ve already planned to do) and keep to the park the rest of the time.

For my personal spending - I don’t want to say no to social invitations but if I commit to driving instead of drinking it makes it cheap (and healthier!). And I could say no books or “stuff” for myself this month.

We do have lots of stuff to do in the house and garden (putting in new beds and stones down outside, plus painting some rooms inside) but have all the money saved up for what we need. But I could aim to not buy any other household stuff outside those planned projects.

Hey @Bluegreen143 that sounds good! It’s whatever works for each person! I just end up spending out of control. Mind you there is also Half term to contend with. I’ll have a £50 budget for that so we’ll see how far that goes I guess. Anything that saves money in this climate can only be a bonus. I don’t blame you for not wanting to restrict yourself socially. I’m not a very social person at all. I have a handful of friends, of which I see around once every couple of months but I’ve literally just seen them so I won’t be seeing them again any time soon. And my best friend who I see often has gone on holiday for 3 weeks so again. I won’t be spending any money there.

I really need to cut down on buying clothes, I don’t buy clothes often at all but I really want to at the moment and it’s really in my head to do. I also need to not spend lots and lots of money on coffees out. I get into such bad habits!

Right I got up to practice for my interview, so best get on with that!

We all have our own habits don’t we!! I don’t buy coffee (I don’t even drink it!) or really buy food out much at all. But I do go out quite a lot. The week before last I was out three evenings in a row - the first was a work social event and paid for but the next two were seeing friends - then had a baby shower on Sunday. So I had a quiet week this week to make up for it!

I’m going out on Tuesday but my friend is having us over and I’ll drive so tbh it won’t cost anything except the small amount of petrol to get there. Need to plan more of this kind of thing because I really do need to reign it in a bit this month before Christmas madness starts…

That’s great @Bluegreen143, it’s about making small manageable changes isn’t it. I love Xmas but it is such an expensive time, especially as it’s Roos birthday mid November. I did aim to try and save £100 a month towards this but it never happens. I really do want to try and do it next year. I have set a good budget plan so I’ll see what I can do.

Have woken up with a massive headache. Have to work this afternoon, only for 4 hours but pays exceptionally well. Double Time. But it’s for a VVIP and I’m the only one hosting him, scary! But hopefully manageable! Struggling with these interview questions. As I know they have criteria to tick off. I just want to make sure I get the right answers to the right questions as they’re quite vague.
