Congratulations on getting through the 2nd round and into the final round.

As @RelievedSheff says will the job fit around your busy life and the children?  Also things like pensions and well worth having as the longer you pay in the more you'll get.  I just wish I'd paid into a pension earlier than I did.

Congratulations on getting through.  Echo the others re: time and additional benefits.  A decent pension scheme would be invaluable.

Thank you all so much for your kind comments and wise words. I’m not going to lie it would be complicated. OH would have to help but it would also depend on what he would end up doing career wise, it’s 2 days on 9-6 and then 2 nights 6-9 then 4 off. On a shift pattern. So school pick ups etc would be an issue but that’s where OH would have to help.  I could just about make the money work and still cover everything more or less, it is a public service pension so I’m not sure. But I have no pension at the moment, so anything is better than nothing. And I imagine I would could claim back for uniform allowance on tax and claim marriage allowance. None of which I do as I’m self employed. I would also get fed when on shift. My wages would go up in 2 years which would make things more affordable.
The huge main stickler, is I don’t know if I want to do it. I mean it would be ok. But hard. And I would have 12 weeks of physical training long, long days. And at my age and being female it’s going to be hard.

But I’ve got to get through a day of t£am building and an afternoon of interviews first, and it wouldn’t start until at least feb if not later, so food for thought.

As I said I wish I could permanently do the ad hoc work I do. As I love it and it pays so well, but that still throws up problems as is 7.30-5.30, so children have to be looked after then too. Didn’t feel to hard the other week though or when I’ve had to do the other rounds of testing and interviews.

So we’re still on holiday, get back on Sunday and I can’t wait, I have loved being away, but it has been a little stressful and very expensive. I’m looking forward to waking up on Monday, doing some washing, drinking tea and getting life in order a little.

    Hope you’re all ok x

Ps @dawnybabes I could PT but I don’t know if I’d want to or if it would fit in with people, I could possibly do the ones on zoom, which I make £75 a week from. Food for thought.

I will post up all of my SOA tomorrow, I know I keep saying it but I def need to. I’ll try and do it when I get up over coffee.

Thanks again for your lovely thoughts and wishes, you guys have really helped me be positive about the future when I’ve found things so hard and felt like I was flailing around. I really do appreciate you taking the time to comment and post.

If it's a public sector pension, then it will likely be well worth it.

Enjoy your last few days of holiday :)

And using a face moisturiser might actually be something I need to do 🤦🏻‍♀️. I’ve used a cheap Nivea face cream whilst Away and it’s been lovely. I just need to keep doing it!

I use Epaderm. It was originally prescribed for me due to sensitive, allergic skin but you can get it from most chemist's and online now. I get a huge squirty tub for about £12 and put an elastic band round the pump so only a little comes. It can last me over 2 years, and I'm always complimented on photos for how nice my skin looks.

I also need to dye it again. Im happy to dye it myself, but it only seems to last about 6 weeks on a permanent dye. My white hair, comes through really quickly. I’m one of those people that despite having fair skin and blue eyes, has dark curly hair. And at 40 I’ve not gone grey but bright white, so it really shows, and I’m not prepared to go grey gracefully. Any thoughts on decent home dyes that will cover the grey a bit more?

Shoestring Jane on one of her YT videos showed how she just made up half her hair dye at one time, and then used a hairdressers little brush thing to paint her roots with it. That meant one box lasted double the time.

Hey @jwil thanks for that, I do need to look into it more. Can you send me the link for your diary. I’ve lost it 😢.

Ah thanks @Elisheba, how was your holiday? I saw one of the hair dresser bowl and brush things in £ land a long while ago. But I may go and have a look next week, thank you! My hair has lightened in the sun so will have to see what it looks like when I dye it. I’m going to leave it on for a bit longer. And I’m liking the sound of the face cream! I will keep my eyes out for that too.

Still not home, we will arrive home at some point tomorrow, dependent on traffic etc. OH asked what I would miss about being on holiday, and I said not being able to spend every second with him of course, but also not having to think about or having to make dinner for everyone. I didn’t realise how much I hated it! Do need to make this easier!

Have managed to read 3 books, and for my sins I have ordered 2 more for my kindle, but I will read them and they were £1 each. I’m really enjoying them.

I'm with you on hating to make dinner for everyone!  It's so challenging as they can all be fussy in different ways!
