I’ve Not been very good at posting on here. Sorry, everything is super busy. Life seems ok at the moment which is good. I’m having to manage my time though as I have a lot of work to fit in but they’re all hour long sessions So they’re spread out all over the place. I haven’t planned far enough ahead and haven’t got easy grab food so will need to work on that for the rest of the week.Roos birthday went well. I ended up spending a small fortune though.Right going to eat breakfast and get to work.2

Hi,
Well it’s been my first day of my new busy week with my extra 4 clients. Have done lots of programming and bits and pieces today.I am still to do a big shop but I will get round to doing it tomorrow. Had leftovers for dinner. We’ve run out of lots of big things like shower gel and rinse aid and shampoo etc etc. so will need to get some of those from Tesco, I will go to lidl for the rest.Am trying my best to save energy. Some things I have done are. Closed the loft hatch. Started washing everything at 20 degrees. Turning all lights off when not in a room. And lastly turning the radiators down in rooms we don’t use or in hallways. Hopefully this will help keep our bills down a little this winter.2 -
@missymoo81 if you're going to Lidl anyway their shampoo, shower gel and rinse aid are all OK; I use them all. Worth giving them a try.2

Hey thanks @joedenise it’s things like deodorant for OH as he has sensitive skin and I use a really cheap but nice smelling shower gel from Tesco. They’re next door to each other so isn’t a huge deal breaker to go to both. I’ll do that at 2. I got about 4 hours sleep last night. No idea why I couldn’t sleep. There’s so much going on in my head at the moment with work, cars, kids clubs, more work, money etc etc.

Morning!
Things have settled down here today, OH has been lovely and took some of my work load when I had a bit of a melt down from being super tired, having too much work on and not seeing the children.I’m going to try and make things a bit easier this week. I’ve booked some clients back to back so I don’t have to keep going backwards and forwards to work.
I have a confession to make, I very nearly bought a new car. We’re spending so much on fuel we thought we’d have a look at a plug in….. I even went as far as getting a loan and having the car delivered. But, the car was rubbish, prob why it was so cheap….. so I sent it back. then me and OH sat down and actually did a load of calculations, on fuel wise and electric costs and chargers and depreciation and work needed on current car. (Yes I am very aware these calculations should definitely have been done before I got a loan and ordered the car!). But better late than never and I still have another weeks Grace where I can send the loan back with only a v minimal charge. This is a real turning point for us. Because me and OH are on the same page with it. And I really do hate my car but it’s just because it’s a random colour and full of dents but it goes and when it’s fixed it will be good as new.I’m just going to post this before I lose the post.2 -
Have also just realised I have a £2.5k tax bill in January that I completely forgot about! I’m hoping to bring it down just need to check the accounts for this year so far and projected for the next 4 months and see where we’re at. I have money put aside for OHs courses and paying off the mortgage etc. but that will make a huge dent, well clear it out mostly which is a problem.
Need to sit down and sort money out tomorrow, everything is all over the place!2 -
Sounds like you are feeling overwhelmed at the moment. Definitely need to take time to breathe. If you can cancel the car loan that sounds like a plan otherwise from the sound of it you are digging a deeper hole. I try and map out a year's worth of expenses so I can see when car bills and other annual bills are due...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

@missymoo81 You can get 3 year lease deals for around £200 a month on a small all electric like the VW up with pretty much all stuff included. Some even give a years insurance! Not sure on your exact useage, but could be a far better option than a PHEV.

Hey @savingholmes, lovely to see you, yes loan needs to be returned today. I absolutely need to map things out better for the year. Sometimes I really feel like I’ve got a handle on it other times I really don’t!Wow thank you capuchin, I didn’t realise you could rent electric cars! You learn something new! We have done so much research, and looked at costs of cars, electricity, diesel, depreciation, how far an electric car would take us. And we really are just better sticking to the car we’ve got. OH is going to fix what needs fixing and we’re going to try and eek it out for another few years. Ideally 5, but who knows! It was a really interesting getting down to the bare bones of it all. Looking at MPG and every day journeys. In my head I did about 12 miles a day and in reality it’s more like 30-40. And MPG on current car although old, isn’t actually too bad!Other money saving things, I have ordered a laundry egg. I’m trying to live more sustainably. I’m being very conscious of what we throw away into rubbish and what can be recycled. Being careful to wash everything up also. So I thought let’s see about the laundry. I’ve managed to cut down on the fabric conditioner I use. But a laundry egg would be better for the Environment and is around £4 for 45 washes which would be cheaper than my powder and conditioner combined. Hopefully it works.My SiL is pregnant so I would like to buy them some things for the baby, they have an Amazon list thing, so I will get some things on there, they really struggled to conceive, so I’m so excited for them.I’ve got a couple of clients this morning so rushing about a bit. We’re down to the one car at the moment, so there’s a bit of to-ing and fro-inch whilst OH fixes mine.I was watching Stacey Solomon’s new program yesterday. It really made me want to sort out my stuff! So I did the cabinet in the lounge. Who knew that it was such a tardis. Managed a whole huge shopping bag of recycling. Have the rest of the house to do really. But Rome wasn’t built in a day!
so todays jobs:
Work
cancel loan
go through finances to send to accountantFinish customer plan
program for tomorrow
things I would like to do:
package stuff up for ebay
package stuff up for return
take Things to charity shop
post office
bag up change
think that’s it for today. Best get myself up from the sofa and get sorted.2 -
Well done on sitting down with the figures and cancelling the loan. It can be far too easy to get swept away with the situation.1
