    My parents rented a brand new council house after the war.  They had big gardens in those days and we kept chickens for years.  Jolly useful  :)
    not seen anyone keep chickens around here so the covenant must be working  :D

    Sure, I'm in the early stages of buying this flat, haven't committed much. The result i was hoping for was to know how to interpret the clause. I was afraid I might overreact in asking them to remove the clause. I'm sure informal agreements work for the majority of people, but it's not a safe longterm option. Although who knows, maybe my downstairs neighbour turns out to have a cat ;)

    I could also claim the cat has me rather than the other way around.

    I did knock on their door and the neighbour didn't want to talk and closed the door lol I can't be immoral either ;) Yes, Piper might deter the birds, not sure what she's up too, but I'd be happy to hang a bell to her collar. I never minded other people's cats in my garden before even having a cat. I only really mind noise at night/early morning (barking etc)
    And yet you still want to proceed with this purchase. Walk, nay run or buy a place that doesn't need any sort or consent. Simples. 
    Um, where do you live that great new places ticking your every box pop up all the time? I'm imagining not London

    But that flat doesn't tick all your boxes as there is the restriction on pets clause.

    You need to decide which boxes are more important and which less so.
