Ford Focus "Intelligent Speed Assistance" (Not)

Hi all, I have a focus with intelligent Speed limiter and intelligent adaptive cruise control as part of the drivers pack.
This system works well until you drive into Wales with the new(September 2023)speed limits. it reads a new 20mph displays 20mph and without prompt changes limiter or cruise control to 20mph. Perfect. However after 1000ft approx it changes back to the original speed limit of that road. I have been fighting ford Uk including the executives office. Have been Told the system works from the Maps GPS as well as the camera on the car. The ford Uk web sites clearly says it works just from the camera on the car. Ford claim it’s waiting for an update. A new map update was released recently but there is no change. Ford Uk will not talk to me about this subject anymore. I Amin talks with the motor ombudsman. Suggest anyone else does the same0 -

What outcome do you want from your complaint? Did you get a speeding ticket as a result of the change back to 30mph? (If so that's a court case I would love to hear).
If you've raised it with Ford and want more voices to add to the clamour, you'll find more Focus owners on a dedicated Focus forum.2 -

Check the Ford T/C on this & you will find that this system is nothing but a guide. Not something that you should be relying on to be 100% correct.
If it is anything like other systems that pick up speed limit signs. They are fallible to pick up incorrect limits when a side road sign is angled incorrectly.Life in the slow lane0 -

Use your own observation skills and knowledge of the Highway Code to work out what the speed limit is.
If you rely on "technology" your'e asking to be fined...0 -
Love the comment about observation skills and knowldege of the Highway Code. The trouble is, these "safety" devices are there at the behest of the EU and the technology, along with awful Highways maintenance, simply aren't up to the job. I keep all mine disabled but on my wifes car (Newer) I have to disable them everytime I drive.
If I don't the car (Doesn't matter which) will miss the speed sign and display (And limit) the car's speed. More worryingly, I can be bowling along a motorway at 70mph and the car, without warning "sees" a lower speed - yes, as low as 5mph! In contrast, it still says I can do 60mph down my high street in one direction and 120mph in the other! If only it could.0
