Windows 11 will now require a Microsoft account to be connected to every user account, granting them the ability to correlate user behavior with one's personal identity.
This is true for the home version unless you "hack" your way around it.
Not true for the pro version. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
I've been on Windows 11 since the developer version came out in May and I seem to have an unpopular opinion but I love it - yes everything, including the start menu changes that seem to always get peoples knickers in a twist. I don't really use the start menu though, I have 25 apps pinned to my taskbar for quick access and that covers 99% of what I use day to day..
Not much has really changed, just feels like a more visually polished version of Window 10.
The bits I do really like are the things that are the mandatory security requirements, I think these are a big step forward. Nobody seems to question having an encrypted mobile phone with an online account yet people are having a hissy fit about having it in Windows.
Anybody still spouting about local accounts is in the dark ages security wise.
I feel much happier knowing my system is password-less and fully encrypted. Face or fingerprint for login and 2FA if I get locked out. No worries about losing my bit-locker keys either.

You could encrypt the disk under Windows 10, so that's not a new feature.I do like that they've put some transparency/glass effects back. The Start menu can be shifted back to the left of a settings menu if it seems weird stuck in the middle. My VMs don't support TPM so I can't upgrade/install on them.I'm not sure about the viability of disabling the CPU check, as it'd only be a matter of time before some problem arises as a result.I may take a run at reinstalling a system I'd got partially through setting up with Windows 10, but I expect its i7-4xxx may be too old.I've got a laptop with some music programs on it, but I expect if I upgrade it, they may stop working and/or I'll need to buy newer versions.I don't feel the need to have an online account to login to my PC.I was on the Windows Insider trial of Windows 11, but the full release cut me off.I don't know when I'll next buy a PC, as what I've got is pretty decent. So, all-in-all, it looks like Windows 11 isn't for me.0

That actually dates back to Windows Vista, it's also an option in 7 and 8/8.1 too (if you have the right licence, its not part of any home edition of any of these versions of Windows AFAIK)

Windows 10 works fine. No more decisions needed for at least 4 years.2

Some folk do have issues with 11. One suggested way round it is to install it in a virtual world inside 10 so it won't mess up your system. You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

re: online account. It may have been mentioned before, but the way to have a local account with W11 is to install W10 with a local.account frist - then upgrade
Or buy W11 Pro.0 -
OK my thoughts ....I am "part" of the developer preview stream and first installed 11 at the end of May, invested my time in testing and feedback so far so goodupdated again in July looking good then whamMy efforts are wasted becauseHmm it was OK for me to try and help but then I need to dedicate a new PC to continue needless to say that isn't going happenI Have declined to upgrade on one of my capable PCs,Windows only, and used by Mrs DCM) and the other (more capable) pc which I use Linux and run windows on this under a VM, the thing that really annoys me is the VM it was running on has a fully paid W10 License. Oh and I also had installed it on a spare i5-45xx which was running it very well until they said because it is not supported. Wish I could persuade all my friends/wife to abandon MS totally. Disgusted of Fedora, in the universe of *XEdited I went from W10 preview to full blown W10 and think it is a damn fine OS4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Yeah but I would want all my "legacy" pcs up to date too...Will revisit options when W10 goes out of support.Basically MS are saying just because you are 70 you should chuck out, perfectly good and performing well hardware, because it is all of 5 years old it just seems wrong to me. I support machines that came with Vista installed (yeah that SofS) but run fine on W10 albeit 12 years oldEdited: yeah I am aware of the reg fix4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex .
