On the back of news that the US's largest LNG export facility would be down for 90 days, and partially offline until year end, Russia has elected to dial down natural gas exports to Europe. The Kremlin has halted another turbine at a compressor station connected to the Nord Stream pipeline, indicating that maintenance has been impacted by sanctions. Tuesday, European natural gas prices rallied ~18%, and prices rose another 23% Wednesday.

I don't get CornwallInsights calculation.  1 week of higher wholesale prices and the cap rises to 51% increase! 
Do they really think all the energy companies are buying every time the wholesale price peaks?

I think we are being played by the energy companies in cahoots with Ofgem.

We went from energy companies buying up to 2 years in advance, to the new energy companies buying on the day of usage with customers funds, to now making up the figures to what ever they feel like without any transparency.

I note that Ofgem is finally getting into the ribs of the suppliers wrt direct debits and credit balances. Not before time. And the suppliers do not like it one little bit, especially Centrica/British Gas.

Sorry, what are you talking about? Centrica is all for protecting the customer credits.

Centrica is very well known for its altruism and benevolence. And its misleading tariffs, and 'not fit for purpose' billing and support systems. Allegedly.
