  • This shows it in easier to see format (I think :) )

  • Gazprom showing off a little.  This whole situation is caused by European buyers not agreeing to long term contracts and wanting to buy at market prices.  That worked well for a few years now the piper has to be paid!

  • This article sums up the European mullets.

British Gas customers in Devon and South West England to be offered heat pumps from next month before nationwide rollout

British Gas is planning to begin offering its customers air source heat pumps from next month, with the energy giant planning to start household installations in Devon and the South West of England before rolling out the service nationwide, it announced on Friday.

Sounds like they just want to get on the gravy train, they could easily undercut all the competition if they wanted.
  •  Even in an unprecedented, national emergency scenario (war)…. we will request the adversary to supply gas or go without providing electricity to people but will not stop shutting down reactors!

Not like the Germans, crazy.  All nuclear will be shut down very shortly this year.

Geopolitics doesn't seem to have had much effect on gas prices this week.
Over at TheICE gas futures are all in the region of 215-225p/therm (7-7.5p/kWh) from now until this time next year.
Is that still 4x the price this time last year? Yes.
    Will they change again? Yes.
But the sabre-rattling over Ukraine doesn't seem to be having much of an impact, and we're still 50% lower than the 450p/therm (15p/kWh) prices seen in late December.

has there been any discussion around this twitter thread about the rising gas exports from the UK gas industry?

completely understandable that private companies are flogging off "our" gas at the current inflated market prices but doesn't feel right does it! Maybe needs a big windfall tax on them to give us something back, they must be making a fortune

I've thought this myself about calls to start fracking etc.

Unless this is done by a nationalised company for the use of the UK exclusively, it won't solve anything.

They'll just sell the gas to the highest bidder, like any other private company with a product to sell.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)
  • Government interference in markets is never a good thing, companies will end up curtailing investment.

Should Norway stop selling oil and gas to the UK?
