As someone who doesn't know much about the UK electrical infrastructure, this video (and the link in the description) was interesting - posting on the basis that others might also be interested:

"The blustery weather brought by Storm Pia has helped Britain’s windfarms set a new clean energy record, with wind turbines generating more than half of the country’s electricity.
Windfarms generated 21.8 gigawatts (GW) of electricity between 8am and 8.30am on Thursday,"

Let's hope we don't get a similar storm in July or we will have to pay for the turbines to be switched off or will this extra be deducted from the lossmarkin said:

I would say about time, if they had allowed them sooner and it was properly enforced they would not be having to introduce the surcharge on those of us who do actually pay our bills.Sea_Shell said:Not sure this has been posted yet...

EDF's E7 increase has made the press:EDF has left customers on its Economy 7 tariff wondering how they will be able to heat their homes this winter after the energy supplier almost doubled the price of its off-peak night-time rate.Th Guardian have completely failed to mention that it's only certain regions of the east of England that are affected, or that the new prices re comparable to EDF's prices in the rest of the country, or that they're also now similar to several other suppliers.
On 1 January, most home energy users in Great Britain saw their bills rise by an average of 5% after the regulator Ofgem raised the price cap.
However, at the same time EDF pushed through a 91% increase in its E7 night-time rate.
Not great reporting, but there you have it.

Octopus Energy: Bills will fall in April, says boss
The boss of Octopus Energy says bills will fall this April as providers have already paid for the gas.
Speaking to the BBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos, chief executive Greg Jackson said the new energy price cap will be "hundreds of pounds lower" than current levels.
He added that gas supplies had been secured in advance of the winter months.
This has led to lower wholesale prices, Mr Jackson said.
