I took advantage of just such an offer from them back in April, and the terms specified that the offer was only for those who had received the email. I suspect it was targeted at areas where they knew they had plenty of fitters available and were trying to make sure they had enough work to keep them busy.

It is showing on my on line account (and my daughter's).  Don't remember it being there before, just the usual free coffee / plant a tree !
It states "from 25/9/23" so is not anew offer.  Also shows in the app when clicking "why go smart" but not on the app front page.

So it's an incentive to get a smart meter then?

The cynic in me suggests the £10 fine per meter they paid for not reaching the targets means the £50 bribe isn't worth it.

Perhaps they were expecting a bigger fine.
  • It is probably time to allow different rates to be applied to those who refuse installation of smart meters, maybe double the standing charges and 10p per kWh surcharge.
