Cheapest Way to get MS Office?

If you already had a legit version of Office 2016 Pro under your MS account why did you purchase another copy and why not just download the original from your MS account?Sicard said:
It's not quite as simple as that. I did have an Office 2016 Professional before which still shows up in my account although it's out of date. The key I have is for the basic Office 2016 so it doesn't work. It asks me to sign into my account but without giving me the option to download the basic version. My head is spinning so I'll try again tomorrow.Jenni_D said:Download the Office 2016 application direct from Microsoft, then apply the key you've been gven?

Thanks anyway.1 -
Because I went for the cheapest option as I only needed Word. And not being a very good soothsayer I couldn't foresee the problems I encountered.neilmcl said:

Thanks anyway. You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

But you could have just reinstalled the Word portion of Office Pro 2016, which you already had a licence for? Surely that would have been an even cheaper way forward.

Where in your Microsoft account do you see what you’ve bought/installed? Because I’m using a HUP version of office but no longer working at the company I got it through, will that show up in my account?neilmcl said:If you already had a legit version of Office 2016 Pro under your MS account why did you purchase another copy and why not just download the original from your MS account?
Sorry if it is a daft/obvious question.
It'll be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end....0 -
While the cheap £2 keys from AliExpress and other sites may work and the download of the software comes from Microsoft servers so appears "legit". Often the keys are volume licences or educational licences registered to certain corporations etc therefore you don't really have a "licence" to use the software if you are not part of them.
I'd rather just use an older version off Office like 2007 which doesn't require KMS or even better use an Open Source/free office package for example OpenOffice or LibreOffice.0 -
The key ran out after 4 years so doesn't work any more. Don't ask me why pleeease.Jenni_D said:But you could have just reinstalled the Word portion of Office Pro 2016, which you already had a licence for? Surely that would have been an even cheaper way forward.

It depends on which MS account you used to install and register it with, it's changed a bit now but you may have to look under Subscriptions in your MS account on microsoft.com or look on office.com to download. I had the same, ie, a HUP copy of office 2016 but I forgot to get the product key when I left the company and as Office was registered to my company email address I could no longer get access to it to donwload a copy to my PC.Langtang said:
