    Yes, two in fact.
I was on £56 per month - not quite enough, but pretty close. On the EDF tariff page they suggest I ought to be paying £105 per month based on my usage. But in billing, based on the same usage, I am being DDed £156. It makes no sense.
The big issue I have is that my tariff changed on 13 October and they ESTIMATED my readings on that day. They claim that there was a temporary transmission problem which stopped them from collecting smart readings, but then why didn't they tell me and ask to provide them with the actual reading?
I have a smart hub - I'll take a look. But it seems that (at the moment at least), EDF are making up the rules as they go along. I'm going to have to spend time checking up on them!

If your tariff changed that would also be another reason your DD went up as any DD calculations are done on what you have used & what your tariff will be going forward.
  • @Hyaku you can enter your own readings on the EDF website or via the APP any time.

All bills show your annual usage at the bottom so use those figures and the new tariff to work out your costs.

I have downloaded the bright app and thay has the info showing but still the tarrif is wrong! So maybe is connecting just the other one was taking a while to update.

Bright App takes its tariff data from the ESME and the GSME. To change the tariff data, the supplier needs to send out security certificates to each of the meters. It can then update the tariff and pull data from the meters once per day.

Set up a N3rgy.com account (use the ‘I am a consumer’ link. If you can see data, then your smart meter is connected to The DCC network. Alternatively, you can download an App called BRIGHT. Once you have signed up to this App, it will recover your usage data. Hildebrand which is responsible for the App is a Registered DCC User so it is approved to recover meter data with your permission.

Your IHD connects to the comms hub that sits above the electricity smart meter. The IHD gets its data via a Home Area Network that is generated by the comms hub. You can have a situation where your smart meters are working normally but the information on the IHD is wrong because the supplier has not transmitted the correct tariff information to your meters.

I have a similar problem in that my EDF installed gas smart(SMETS2) meter installed July21 has never been read on my IHD or EDF. I can read it manually. Since the price hike, am becoming more concerned about it. I complain but get the Ostrich treatment. I looked on N3rgy.com and can see my electric consumption, but gas shows a blank file.

My gas meter is outside the house. Am I right in thinking that it needs to communicate first to the hub on the electric meter hub (inside the house), and from there to EDF? The reason I ask is that the gas meter is outside the house about 5meters away. So maybe its too far?

My hub as 5 LED's on it SW, WAN, MESH, HAN, GAS. All flash every 5 seconds or so except MESH which stays off. Is that a clue?

If your gas meter works, chances are it was correctly commissioned by the installer which in turn means it was communicating with the DCC on the date of install.
If you look at your gas meter screen, are there a set of signal bars visible (like on a mobile phone)?
If you check your IHD, what does it say concerning your gas meter?

That's normal; your gas meter, electricity meter and IHD each connect to the HAN, then the hub communicates to the WAN. Mesh is only used in special circumstances to let comms hubs connect to each other daisy-chain style.

The gas meter shows 3 bars
On the IHD, I can only see Electric data. Nothing for Gas
If my meter is connected to DCC, why does it show no data on N3rgy?

Good, so the meter is connected to the HAN.

    Where are you looking?
On mine (an EDF-supplied Geo Trio, fitted in the same month as yours) I can choose "home" then "meters" and "gas" and then I get gas meter info, inclusing "Status connected".

I had a gas and electric smart meter installed by EDF a couple of years ago. The gas one worked but the elec couldn’t communicate with the gas one (which is the one that relays to EDF). After many complaints and a wait, they replaced both. The new elec still won’t communicate with the gas one so I still have to submit manual elec readings twice a year. They couldn’t give me an explanation. They gave me a token credit to my account for compensation. Not very smart eh? EDF are pathetic.
