is there a better and worse wheel alignment? (Not that i associate Kwikfit with premium service) maybe i should ask for other quotes although funnily enough none of the local garages (nor Kwikfit) have alignment prices on their websites.

£109??     My local tyre place charges £35 IF all 4 need adjusting.  £15 for setup and readout and £5 per wheel
    that they need to adjust.

Are you sure that's not wheel balancing? You don't tend to do wheel alignment on individual wheels.

Are you going to be buying new tyres as well? Halfords offer 4 wheel alignment for £69 if you but 2 or more tyres.

In fact most tyre places seem to offer it  significantly cheaper than that Kwikfit price.

no, not yet i'm afraid. I have 3.5mm on my rear ones , which means about 1000-1500 miles left :)

It must be your location because I can't find anyone near me, other than main dealers, that offer 4 wheel alignment for anything above £70.

There's only two types of alignment I'd have.
One is the full BMW KDS alignment, where they place weights on the seats to replicate passengers etc.
Failing that, I'd go to someone with a Hunter alignment machine.
Yes you will get cheaper, but I don't trust them and see it as wasted money.

Do they put 70Kg (~11 stone) weights on the seats, and do that for the 4 main passenger seats?

(An F30 3 series weighs ~1400 to 1500Kg depending on model... adding weights to all 4 main seats would add ~20% to the overall weight; if they only do the front seats then it's 10%. Would that have a significant impact on alignment?)

Funnily enough, Kwikfit added weights to the 2 front seats for the check. Didnt look like 70kg to me (unless the guy was super strong :) )
