Is this an M-Sport model?MSaxp said:It's a 320D. Wheels are the standard (?) 225/50R17
An F30 320d should have 225/45 17 tyres both back and front - unless it's an M-Sport Model when the sizes are 225/45 17 front and 255/40 17 on the rear.
That info should be on a sticker/label on the driver's door-post along with the correct tyre pressures.
If you have 225/50 17 tyres on the rear of an M-Sport then they will wear faster than the correct size.0 -
Odds on that is the problem. All area's that require the most out of the tyres grip, = high wearMSaxp said:It's a 320D. Wheels are the standard (?) 225/50R17
I never really floor it, definitely don't skid, don't drive in sport mode. I don't have big stretches of road either, 90% of driving is 5 miles or less. Half of it is with 2 kids in the back (1.5 and 4) Many starts and stops, many roundabouts.
Perhaps a better option given the 90% of miles would be a smaller car.Life in the slow lane0 -
No doubt the 3 series was a bad idea. Not too great around the estate and not great for boot shape. But it's current value is probably about £5k, so not worth replacing now. Plus it's good for the 2 trips to the airport a year with the family 😂born_again said:

No its not M Sport. I'm pretty sure the tyres it came with were 55. I got it from a BMW dealership and I service it at a dealership, so I assume they would have picked up on that? I'll double check although I think the door sticker lists all possible configurations of tyresIceweasel said:

Sorry, my typo. My tyres are 225/50R170

I had a 320D and got about 30k out of a set of Bridgestone S001s.
It was mainly motorway miles, but even then the fronts were looking rather second hand, while the rears still had a decent amount of tread.
May be worth getting a proper 4 wheel alignment done on the car - rear toe could cause poor wear without it being uneven.1 -
Would rotating the tyres front to back & vice versea be possible? Even the wear out.0

Thanks. I will have a look into an alignment. I appreciate that short trip miles cause more wear than motorway miles, and I'd be happy with 15k miles.pottsworth said:I had a 320D and got about 30k out of a set of Bridgestone S001s.

Took the car for a free alignment check at Kwikfit. They say my alignment is pretty bad (cynical me would say that of course they would, thats why the check is free). But anyway i believe that my alignment is off. Can this account for tyres lasting half as long as one would expect? Who knows, but i have to find out.
Kwik fit offer a 4 wheel alignment for £109 or a 2 year plan with free alignments for 2 years for £125. Sounds like a better deal given i will at least have 2 in those 2 years.
Other things to look at? Shock absorbers? non rft tyres?0 -
£109?? My local tyre place charges £35 IF all 4 need adjusting. £15 for setup and readout and £5 per wheel
that they need to adjust.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
