Panic buying vinyl records now. What is going on?

If people want to blow their money on crap sounding music fair play to them.
At least unlike the last panic buying sessions, I can still get out and about and don't have a dirty backside.1 -

I have to admit the sound quality would have to be as good as CD's for me to buy them. I do miss the record sleeves on vinyls though. I used to buy the odd 12" single too and some of these vinyls came in shapes or colours.0 -

At times some artists release a special addition CD and will would have a few extra songs on it, sometimes recorded live while performing at a concert.
Vinyls were before CD's. Ask your nan what people had to do with a tape and pencil lol1 -

Christmas presents perhaps?
My sainsburys this week was out of pasta. I curiously asked if there was delivery issues. Nope - it was panic buyers buying 10 bags each.Peter
Debt free - finally finished paying off £20k + Interest.2 -
As long as the media harp on about shortages people will panic buy.
The latest is buy your Christmas presents and toys now as there is a supply problem and you may not get them nearer Christmas.
Well, if they are in the shops now and nobody buys them they will still be there in December.
If there is a supply problem and people buy them up now then yes, there won't be any nearer Christmas.
If people buy all the stock now then the shops will have nothing to sell later. No doubt then they will be moaning about not having any money coming in.

Panic buying is nothing new.
My first job after leaving school in the early 1970s was in a supermarket. One day, a lady came through my till with 10 bags of sugar. Being nosey, I asked her if she was having a party, but it was for a WI baking session.
Then it started. "Ooh Mabel - look at all that sugar - must be a shortage! Quick, I'll get 2 bags for me and 2 for Flo, you get yours and 2 for Betty". The manager had to impose a ration of one bag per person - but we were still left with just a few bags of icing sugar before the next delivery!5 -

Obviously, nothing can really beat the pure sound of the family sitting around the pianoforte of an evening and bringing vibrant life to sheet music.4 -
