Octopus Energy are this year matching Avro Energy previously apparent very generous criteria for Broader Group
Contributory benefits are included
Enhanced secondary criteria e.g "Are exempt from prescription charges (only for customers in England) or hold an HC2 certificate" which also applies to certain medical conditions

  • Having this 'Enhanced secondary criteria' is something that all suppliers should be providing methinks.  Made a difference in my household for sure.

I have applied to Octopus Energy for Warm Home Discount in what I think is the 'broader' group and I have correctly ticked the low income and DLA boxes.

Does anyone know when I am likely to be asked to provide further information because, so far, Octopus only have my word that I have a low income and receive DLA.  I am willing to provide the information although, so far, I have not been asked.

I am already on their special Priority Services Register because of disabilities.

    Thank you.

They can check through benefits but they may ask for evidence unlikely but there are spot checks to individuals, I applied a
couple of mths ago nothing yet
  • The Octopus link is helpful, Dolor, so it might be possible to hear in six weeks although worrywart_3 is waiting longer.

Thanks very much.  Any help with expensive electricity really would make a difference.

  • Has anyone had it hit their account yet ?

I am waiting to hear if my broader group application has been accepted,  worrywart 3.  I just checked and, in my online  account, it has changed from pending to now "Awaiting Audit."  I hope your Warm Home Discount has arrived by now.

This makes me think that my application is being spot checked and may be one of the ? 5% being referred to the Government for confirmation.  I am O.K. about this because my income is low and I have been receiving  DLA (middle care and low immobility) continuously for over 10 years.  Once verified and, if successful, I'll be really glad of the £140 help with my Octopus fuel bill.

Is anyone else waiting for "Audit" or knows how long it takes for a decision to arrive after their application  "progressed" from pending to awaiting audit?

It is getting colder and, although I have turned my heating up, I would still like it to be warmer for longer.  I have it on for four hours a day now.

    Thanks.

My application is still showing as ‘pending’ (low income and medical exemption certificate), although I only applied a few weeks ago (when my medical exemption was confirmed) so I will check again in a few weeks.
