go to Britannia's website and put indoor reg number and it will recommend a range of tyres suitable for the car.
Hey thanks for the advice ! I checked on the website and prices start at around £50 fitted. That's a relief just incase I do need the tyre changed
Almost certainly the cheapest tyres will be abysmal value. Paying a few quid more will get a far better product.

Tell us - at least - the tyre size, and we can make a few suggestions.

Hey really appreciate the input, just an update.
They said due to the angle of the nail the tyre needed replacing and they fitted a brand new tyre ( same brand as the current ones, " Landsail " ) for £67 total. The value of the car is no more than £1,800 so wouldn't make sense for an expensive tyre

    Landsail for nearly £70?

They saw you coming a mile off.

Well the fuel efficiency isn't great, but they are rated B for wet grip so i'm ok with that

The ratings are self-issued by tyre manufacturers.

Landsail are right down there with the very worst of the Chinese teflon-concrete-blend ditchfinders.

    Go on, what size...?

If you won't tell us, at least put it into BlackCircles and find out how much something like a Uniroyal or Avon would have been.

I went to Britannia tyres. They don't have any of them brands you listed.
Car isn't worth more than £1,800 and don't intend on having it more than one year so i'm sure it'll do.
The current Landsails are a few years old and have been fine for me

Would it make sense to have replaced the damaged tyre with a high end one when the rest of the car has Landsail? Would cost way too much to change them all when they're perfectly fine
  • Worth while spending a short while looking up tyre reviews, Autoexpress publish online for example, there are other testers that publish test results, (budget tyres and top of the shop ones). If your pockets allow, fit the best you can but tricky call with all 4 or just 2 if expense is too much. But I never do different on the same axle.

Forget the cost of the car, the cost of the occupants is immeasurably higher. Problem is you never know when you need that grip and/or wet weather ability.

At least keep en eye out on reviews especially when you get down to 3mm or so. Then shop around at leisure. I appreciate that dumped at the sharp end can be daunting, that is why I have found two local well run garages I know I can turn to. Their work is top notch, can service, all OEM parts, exhausts, tyres, brakes and MOT, alignment etc, and good for advice and for a fair price (there are cheaper but for a reason).

I didn't say "high-end". I said "not actively abysmally rubbish".

And we're talking about another couple of quid.

Chinese ditchfinders tend to be barely any cheaper than tyres worth buying. Any tyre place that won't order in a tyre you want for the next day is not worth giving your business to.

    I repeat... What size?

    Think it's 195/50r

Also as I said why would it make sense to replace just one tyre with a better one when the other three are all the same brand and model number of tyre.
I've had no problems with the Landsails so I'm happy with them
