  • Yesterday we had lovely sunshine and I made the most of it by having a couple of walks.  On one of the walks there was work going on at one of the cafes in the village.  There was a pile of stuff outside with a free sign on it.  I picked up a lovely little four legged stool.  As we speak, DH is sanding it down and then will paint it red.  I love it!  Even better that it was free and we have the paint already we can use.

Today its horrible, nasty, rain, drizzle, mist and the fog horn is blaring out.

Breakfast was pancakes with banana so not very SW friendly, but it is pancake day!  Lunch will be the crustless quiche and veggies and tonight its jacket spud with beans.

Some OU studying this morning and then this afternoon off to my friends for our stitching session.

A really productive day today.  We had a fry up for breakfast then jumped to it!  First thing bed changed, then deep cleaned DS’s room and made the bed up.  I have a friend coming to visit two weeks today – haven’t seen each other for 22 years, so you can imagine the excitement.  It has also meant that we are having a really thorough spring clean.  All the skirtings upstairs have been washed, as have all the window frames.

The bathroom Roman blind broke this morning, so that was taken down, cleaned at the back, and then using the sewing machine I was able to fix it.  It is now back up as good as new.

Our bedroom door and the bathroom door haven’t closed properly for ages, didn’t really matter as it’s just the two of us, but DH took them both off and sanded them down and now they fit perfectly – tomorrow he will touch up the paintwork on the edges.

Some neighbours of ours are having a massive sort out.  We have been given a small oak bookcase which will be great on the upstairs landing, a patio heater and a parasol stand.  So I am delighted with those.

It has been non-stop rain for weeks now so haven’t been able to do too much to the garden.  Hoping for some sun next week as that needs a tidy up.

I have also made up 6 portions of overnight oats and 6 jellies with berries in.  For our late lunch/early dinner we had a chicken traybake and two portions of that have now gone in the freezer too.

Tonight a sit down and some sewing – I have almost finished my advent calendar.

Yes, I'm still here.  Not much to report really.

Struggling a bit with SW, but I have managed to stay the same so just over a 1 stone loss.  I am still going to the group, I think if I left all the weight would go back on!

A quiet Easter at home just DH and I.  I did get a leg of lamb for £13 from Sainsbogs and we had that on Easter Sunday.  The rest has gone into a lamb rogan josh curry, which we had some tonight with rice and the rest is now in the freezer.

Weather has been absolutely dreadful, so much rain. The garden is a quagmire.  We have a new greenhouse we need to put up, but really we need a few dry days first before we can venture properly into the garden.

OU study still going strong, I finish on 24th May, so only a few more weeks to go.

Next Monday we are off to the New Forest for a few days holiday, going to visit Beulieu, Bucker's Hard, model village and spend some time in the New Forest and Bournemouth on the way home.

  • So pleased to hear from you. The rain has held my gardening back too, but I managed a few hours on Saturday and Sunday. Perhaps you have reached a suitable weight? A loss of one stone is commendable.
Well done on continuing with your studies. I have still not settled to my language work.
Enjoy your trip to the New Forest area.
    Take care.

Thank@Baron_Dale   In an ideal world I need to lose another 2 stone, but I really don't think that's achievable for me.  I would however, like to lose another stone, so will aim for that now.

I have a couple of stretchy tops which I wear under jumpers.  The sleeves had gone really long, so I chopped them shorter and overlocked them and now they are perfect.  I have also sewn some loops onto a few skirts so I can hang them properly on hangers.

I do make a lot of my own clothes and when I tried some of my dresses on they were too big (yippee).  I have put them to one side and see if I can lose that other stone, then I will decide whether to unpick them all and take them in or whether I just buy some material and make new ones.  I also draft my own patterns and I have a dummy etc.  I need to take the dummy in with my new measurements and re-draft some more patterns, again, something I think I will do later in the year – see how the weight loss goes.

    Weather – still raining!

Breakfast was porridge with banana, lunch home made parsnip soup and tonight its spaghetti carbonara – or my version where I just use eggs and milk and will put spinach with it instead of bacon.  I like to eat “lightly” on a Thursday as its weigh in tomorrow!

Absolutely delighted at weigh in this morning as I lost l lb and also got my Club 10 award - that means I have lost 10% of my body weight since I joined.

Never stopped raining overnight, but has now cleared and I can actually see a glimmer of the sun!

Some friends are coming round this afternoon for tea and cake.  I've made some bara brith (Hairy Bikers recipe) and some ginger biscuits.

Not much planned for the weekend, except for packing on Sunday.

Well done on weight loss.  The rain seems never ending but strangely enough the days aren't too bad but in the evenings it tips down.  I have an 11 mile walk on the North Cornwall coast path tomorrow with my coastal group which should be interesting with Storm Kathleen predicted.  Everywhere is really muddy so that is just as bad as the wind.

You will love the New Forest.  We went with family last year in April and visited Beulieu, Lymington and Bournemouth.  We are in Wiltshire next week so fingers crossed for some sun. Dorset later on this month.

Enjoy your walk - we live on the south coast of Cornwall.  Really looking foward to the New Forest - we are staying near Lymington and I've already booked tickets for Beulieu.

    Enjoy your time in Wiltshire.

You are probably not far from me then. We are South Cornwall too.
