Yesterday we had sunshine and made the most of it.  Went for a walk along the Cornish hedge and then to a local farm where I fed the piggies.  We took a packed lunch and ate it outside it was so nice.

Today we are back to horrid grey skies and misting rain.  I went for my weigh in at SW and have lost another pound.  Brings my total to 1stone 1.5lbs.  Am really pleased, but still a way to go as I need to lose at least another couple of stone.

Another bit of good news today is that DH won £50 on PBs and I also won £50!  So a total of £100 between us.  Most we’ve ever won was £75 made up of 3 x £25.

We have booked a lot of small breaks this year lots of one nighters and two one week breaks.  I will put the winnings into the holiday pot!

This afternoon I batch cooked some bolognaise mix and also made some hummus.

Breakfast was overnight oats, lunch was crustless quiche and salad and tonight its off the SW plan and I’m having a Cornish pasty J  Diet begins again tomorrow!

Weather so dreary the last few days and no change today.

We had our heating oil delivered first thing this morning, £300 worth which will now do us for our heating and hot water till late summer.  We wait till it goes down to 3 bars on the indicator and then top it up.  I always budget for £300 worth and we top up about once every 6 months.

This morning mostly spent studying with the OU.

Hoovered downstairs and there is a load of washing on.

Breakfast was overnight oats, lunch home made crustless quiche with salad and tonight its jacket spud with some leftover cajun chicken mixture in it.

I'm cross stitching an advent calendar and I'm determined to finish it in time for December 1st!  I do have lots of projects on the go and jump about between them, but I've managed to stay focussed on this one for a few days now.

Yesterday we planned our two breaks the one in the NEw Forest and the one in Norfolk.  We booked a Travel lodge and a Premier Inn for two nights at either end of the Norfolk holiday as its a long journey for us.  I was pleased to get one for £38 and the other for £41.  Those hotels are not really a cheap option any more as they don't include breakfast, we have been using independent B&Bs instead, but we need parking and we need to be able to check in later at night as we will be travelling and they are great for that purpose.  It pays to shop around, took us about half an hour on the internet to find them and the best prices.  I also think it pays to book far ahead if you can do so as that also seems to reduce the price.

This morning more studying done.  After that I did 10 minutes of weeding whilst my hard boiled eggs were cooking.  I have decided to try and attempt 10 minutes gardening a day - that way its more enjoyable for me in this weather.

Glad that I did that as its now started to rain and gone dark again.

I have also sorted out a present for my friend who is 60 next week.  I have made her two bags, one with a zip and a pin cushion and scissor carry.  I have also cross stitched her card and this afternoon I made a gift tag.  So everything is hand made.  We don't normally bother with gifts but as its a special birthday.  She is the friend who I stitch with on a Tuesday so I know she will appreciate the time and effort put into it.  Was very MSE as the only cost was the card, everything else I had in my stash.

I have also taken a load of stuff from under the bed.  DH will put it up into the loft tomorrow.  A mixture of Christmas stuff and some cases.

I also completed another carpet for the dolls house which needed to be hemmed on the sewing machine.  I also darned two pairs of tights!

Now I'm going to make a cuppa and watch a bit of telly while I carry on with the cross stitched advent calendar.

Breakfast was overnight oats, lunch hard boiled eggs with HM hummus, pea shoots and tomatoes.  Tonight we are having gammon, wedges and green beans.

  • A very productive day today.

First thing an hour of OU study.  Then I cleared some rubbish from the garden and dismantled a small greenhouse where the cover had ripped with the wind and also the framing had rusted away.  Cleared it to the front of the house.  DH came home from his voluntary stint at the museum, we jloaded the car and took it all to the tip.  Just in time as it then started bucketing down.

More sewing done this afternoon and we cooked some Chinese dishes for our dinner to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Going to the tip is still a PITA here as you still have to book so you can't just decide to stop off at the tip whenever you want.  Can very rarely get one the same day or sometimes even the next day.  If you want a weekend appointment you need to book it by Tuesday!

Thats not good.  Our tip has changed too, they go through all your rubbish, you can't just throw it in the bins as normal.  If its bagged then you have to empty the bag on a table in front of them!

That's not good either although have to say most stuff we manage to just put into our general waste bin or recycling bin.  It's only big stuff we have to take to the tip - today was just some biggish pieces of wood and the glass from a 3 tier table which my friend no longer wanted.  The legs between the tiers were plastic so just went into the recycling bin.
