Horrible day weather wise.  Another NSD

We had a flyer through the door last week to say there is an event at the next village hall where someone would be interested in buying jewellery, gold, antiques etc.  I have had a bit of a sort out of some china and some jewellery, a few broken bits of gold and some stuff of Mum's.  Not sure I want to part with Mum's stuff, but I've got it all ready and will take it tomorrow and see what they say.  I don't have to sell if I don't want to.  On the plus side, it will clear some clutter, which I am always trying to do.  Any money made I want to pay off the CC, but DH says I should save it and buy a piece of jewellery later in the year.  We will see what I get (if anything)!

Hoovered throughtout as tomorrow afternoon my friend is coming round for our stitching session.

We had cooked lunch of bacon badger (no badger harmed in the recipe)! It was lovely and I will definitely make it again.  I found the recipe on Sainsburys website.  We had some home made cauliflower cheese with it.  Supper tonight will be salad (from the garden) rolls.

How much interest are  you paying monthly on the card?  I would suggest using savings as well.  We are early retired ourselves but luckily our private  pensions cover our outgoings but for certain things like replacement cars, home improvements etc we take money out of savings or investments rather than use cards.   After all that is what it was saved  for.

    I would be wary of  those flyers regarding jewellery 💍 . I I don't trust them .
You'd get offered something derisory and pitiful . These ads are springing up on next door website also .
I'd carry on clearing the clutter though 😼

OK - well I took my bits and bobs to the jeweller/expert.  He was very nice and has shops in Devon.  He took everything and offered me £195, I considered that a fair price.  There was nothing else I could do with them, except bring it all back and stick it back in a cupboard.  There was a bit of gold in there, some old plates, old plate silver from Mum and a big bag of costume jewellery.  I suspect it was worth double that.  But I am happy with what I have.  That money has gone off the CC.

Regarding the interest on the CC, there is one bit of it on 1.48% (around a third), the other two thirds are on 0% and that is for 3 years.  So it's not as bad as I thought it would be - but still not good.

I have decided to carry on paying as much as I can off it and then look seriously at finances in January and decide whether to pay a chunk off then.

Weather horrid again today - I can hear the fog horn blaring as I sit here.  My friend is not feeling too well, so she won't be coming round for sewing this afternoon.

I think its going to be a Netflix afternoon :)

Forgot to say, no NSD today as I had to buy milk and eggs.  Also had a naughty but nice coffee and toasted teacake which was lunch.  Dinner tonight is home made southern fried chicken and potato wedges.

Your food sounds nice Mrs P - and well done for making inroads into the debt too. I'm inclined to agree that those "we buy your stuff" people can be a bit shonky but if you're happy with what you got offered then that's fair enough isn't it. It's £195 less for you to be paying interest on anyway!

It's grey and gloomy in London too - no fog horns though, just the occasional ambulance and frustrated bus driver!

Well the last two nights I've had real trouble sleeping - still wide awake at 2am even though I feel really tired.  I get very hot at night too - the perils of being a lady of a certain age :)

I have been quite busy today, so hopefully that will help me sleep better tonight.  I decided to tidy up my craft room (spare bedroom), and got sidetracked when I found two cushion pads and a load of Christmas fabric.  I made two Christmas cushion covers and two sets of bunting.  I'm very pleased with them.

Cooking-wise, we had porridge for breakfast topped with banana, dusting of cinnamon powder and a drizzle of syrup.  Was really nice so we will have that for the next few days.  Lunch was spaghetti carbonara using a leftover gammon slice and supper tonight some home made pea soup and soda farls (from the freezer).  There is enough soup to last for a few days.

We are trying to eat healthily and meal plan as much as possible.  We could both do with losing a bit of weight.  I want to try and keep as healthy as possible during the winter - and of course, the meal planning is great for the old moneysaving.  To that end, tomorrow's first job is to take everything out of the freezer, note it down and then tick off as we use it - I have never been very organised with the freezer and tend to lob stuff in and then throw it out about a year later when I can't identify what it is.  Will be good to try and be more organised with that and the meal planning.

Best of all though it was an NSD.

    Another NSD today.

Sorted out the freezer and noted the contents - now its all gone back in there is more space and its more organised.  Meal planned for the next 7 days.  Am now going to do this every week.

Dinner tonight is from the slow cooker - its an old standby I have used for many years.  Chop up some sausages (makes it look more), add a tin of tomatoes and a tin of baked beans.  Half an hour before the end add some gravy granules to thicken it up.  We are having that with some mash - still using our own potatoes.

Weather lovely today, very sunny and windy but cold - I did a wash and line dried it.

Baked a bara brith (a Welsh fruit loaf), to have sliced and toasted for breakfast for the next few days.

Carried on sorting out the craft room - its looking much better now, just a few more bits to sort out tomorrow and that should be finished.  I have discovered lots of half finished projects - so plenty to keep me occupied WITHOUT needing to buy more fabrics/patterns etc.
