  • What a lack of professionalism. Same as not turning up for a work meeting.

I viewed a property last week, made an offer the following day which was accepted. I made arrangements to look at the property again this weekend to take measurements and start gathering building quotes.

Two days spent attempting to source petrol, followed by a long drive to meet the agent at 6:00pm in the evening who failed to show.

Really frustrating. Costly in time and hassle in securing fuel for the car.

Nothing I can do about it, but how do you deal with agents who - in my experience – are still living up to their negative reputation gathered in the 80s?

Dear god. Measuring up and wanting to obtain builders quotes within days of merely having the offer accepted. You are barely seconds into a marathon. Get over yourself please.
    Totally irrelevant.

Your opinion on why the meeting needed to take place has nothing to do with the fact that it was arranged and agreed.

And totally unnecessary driving around looking for fuel during the current crisis and then drive 3 digit miles just to measure up for a property that could still fall through until exchange.

    Not really money saving expert.

    Still irrelevant though. 🙂.

Obviously the purchaser thought it was necessary. Maybe it will fall through now anyway, especially if this EA is so useless.

Ah yes the 'old estate agent not turning up to my second viewing during a fuel crisis after my offer was accepted literally days ago caused the collapse of the purchase reason'.

First I would contact the agent to find out why the no show.
When people are looking to obtain builders quotes it normally means a revised offer is on the way.

Depends, I went back 2 times to get measurements and builder quotes, didn't gazunder. However it is the survey which is the key.

We have had 1 agent not turn up for a viewing. It was a busy day for us with 4 viewings that day.
We arrived in good time and sat around waiting for half an hour without them showing but as we had other viewings we left to go to the next property and used the extra time to explore the area in advance.
The agent rang to ask where we were (was a bit shirty with us). I told him we waited half an hour, he didn't show or ring to say he was late so we moved on.
As it turns out we felt the property was overpriced especially for the area it was in and we wouldn't have pursued it anyway.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.

Not the case for me. It's for a medical room to look after my disabled daughter. The property is (if its still available to me) highly suitable for our needs and at a good price. Because of the situation I need to get ahead of the curve so there is less disruption to her medical care. All this was discussed in detail, and my intentions were clearly laid out.

However, it appears I've gone from waiting for an EA to turn up, to formulating a conspiracy when masterminding a house viewing deception. David Icke would be proud of how this thread is evolving.
