No problem at all, it's just my, own, take on things, it's nice being appreciated as a customer.
As a private seller I always try to answer any questions I get but I imagine that a lot of business sellers just don't bother - when you see the poor customer service offered by big high street brands then it's probably hard to expect better from a one man band on Ebay. Plus depending on who you are buying from it seems that more and more Ebay stuff is coming direct from China anyway - there may not be much of a real person sitting behind the account.
I agree , I don't think this justt ebay, I think it is endemic.

We were looking for a small group get together and found some very nice restaurants in London with an online presence, most say something like 'contact us if you have any questions' . I have emailed about 8 now asking about Gluten free food, 1 had a cut and paste response saying to call the restaurant direct , but when you call there is a recorded message just saying that all bookings go through the web page and if you have questions to use the contact details there as well as they are unable to take telephone enquiries.  2 have responded properly with menu details that are not on the website , 1 responded to say they would get back to me as the volume of enquiries was very high (that was 2 weeks ago) and 4 have never responded at all and it is now nearly 3 weeks on.

Whenever I am looking for something significant I email the company and see if they reply. If they do I take that as a good sign that they will be responsive. I HATE using the phone so if I have to call someone to do business with them it probably isn't going to happen unless I have no other choice. Worst of the lot though are people who respond to email with 'call me on XXXXXX' (If I wanted to call you I'd have called you!) or worst still take the email as a sign that I want them to phone me!

It happens to me quite often that the seller or buyer will ask me to ring them.......when all I want to do is exchange emails.
Then there are others who can only seem to communicate by phone......they can t seem to manage it at all by email.
I've even had buyers phone me to tell me they have left, again to say they are on the way, again to say they will be with me in 5 minutes  then again from their car to say they are on the drive ! It's a funny old world ain't it !!!!!
