I can understand why someone would offer less than the starting price, seller may have just put an unrealistic starting
price so it was worth putting in an offer before someone else did.

I made an offer on an item and forgot about it until reading these comments, it was relisted 17 times 2 before my offer and
15 after my offer was rejected.  Seems they had enough of listing it as a BIN and put it up with an auction and sold it for £11.27.

Wonder if they thought maybe they should have taken my £25 offer.

Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...

  •  My brother is quite well off. He might not respond for a few reasons. If he's busy, which is most of the time, he won't break off to answer questions as his time Is more important to him in doing other stuff. If he gets a sale he probably gets someone to deal with it. He doesn't need the money and if you don't buy someone else will be along shortly who will. Annoying isn't it !
    Very.
I wouldn't have bought from the sellers that never respond, why waste everyone's time ?

But that's business. Many buyers think it's all about them.......it  isnt. There is something called competition.
I agree, of course there's competition, that's the nature of the business world, that's in no way the point of my thread - it is all about the buyers experience with the seller.
Business is a tough world, i'm in business.
My point still stands - a businessman/woman that doesn't provide basic customer service is running a poor business.

Its not poor business if the seller is achieving their objectives. Your requirements are exactly that.....yours. You can always buy elsewhere if you don't like what's on offer and the seller knows another buyer will be along shortly.

    Charming.......
You might not like the comment but it's true.
If the seller's business model is working for them, it doesn't matter that it doesn't suit you.

As a small buyer and seller - I buy things I'll keep & wear and sell stuff like that I no longer want - I always try to respond to questions from buyers, even if the answer is there in the description or photos.
As a buyer, I too like timely responses from sellers.
But if they don't respond, I just move on.

Well it wasn't meant to be charming....

As a buyer this is exactly how I operate. E.G. I don't like Amazon, I don't like their website or their continual push for Amazon Prime so instead of complaining I buy elsewhere. The seller is presumably meeting all their sales objectives and doesn't need my business. What's the problem with that ?
  • No problem at all, it's just my, own, take on things, it's nice being appreciated as a customer.

I have amended my listings over time as a result of questions I have received.
I'm like Pollycat and sell personal stuff I don't need anymore. I do try to answer questions even when the answer is in the advert (I have made less than complementary comments about some questions asked to my wife).
May you find your sister soon Helli.

As a private seller I always try to answer any questions I get but I imagine that a lot of business sellers just don't bother - when you see the poor customer service offered by big high street brands then it's probably hard to expect better from a one man band on Ebay. Plus depending on who you are buying from it seems that more and more Ebay stuff is coming direct from China anyway - there may not be much of a real person sitting behind the account.
