  • It's worth having a look on the high street too - I bought a Hugo Boss Femme gift set (incl 50ml perfume, lotion and shower gel) reduced from £33 to £27 - and received a student discount on top of that too (totalling just over £25)! Bought from Superdrug. The shop assistant did mention that perfume gift sets are incredibly good value when compared to the perfume alone - the 50ml bottle in Superdrug was £24.99 on it's own!
  • I too have used www.perfumereplublic.co.uk very fast on shipping and good prices too.

  • I have been buying boxes of sample size perfumes from ebay and they work out cheaper than buying a full size bottle. I bought a box of Escada for my partner and there were 20 2ml vial sprays and it was around £10 so i got 40ml for that price.
  • Me and my girlfriend spent a good part of the weekend tramping around the shops in Newcastle City Centre and the Metro Centre, looking for various presents.
High on the list was perfume for her son and daughter who seem to drink the stuff !

Tried all the department stores, chains, and small shops. Prices all over the place, some double

Best places to buy were crazyforperfumes instore at Xtras shops.

eg 100ml Opium EDT for men £17.

Limited choice but great prices for what they had.

The best choice by the proverbial country mile was T J Hughes.

Their Newcastle store was swamped by people buying all sorts of fragrances.

Best buy was 50/100ml Britney Spears between £10 and 15.
    30ml Obsession Men for £12.
Far far cheaper than Boots, Superdrug, Debenhams etc.

    Why waste your money ? I didn't. Although I now smell like a tart's boudoir !:o
  • I never get people who write off Superdrug as a place to buy perfume before even going in.

For the last two months or so, the 100ml Britney Spears' perfumes- Curious and Fantasy have been £15, with gift sets for them at £19,20.

This week there are several great perfume offeres, like £15 for 75ml Joop!, £15 for 30ml Hugo Boss Femme etc etc.

I don't know if anyone is waiting for the sales, but if you are, keep an eye out at the major high street stores- last year I was looking to buy Donna Karen Cashmere Mist 50mls. It retails at around £40 to £50.
I went to Selfridges, and on the 26th last year, they had a gift set: perfume (200mls) shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, (each around 100mls) all for £35! And this was Selfridges-in London!

I would hold out if your shopping for yourself, stores have so much stock to get rid of, pre-recession ordered so sales of the stuff will be big! I also know I wont be buying anyone else any perfumes (not that I could afford what they really want anyway! LOL!) as I know that both they and I will feel just as gutted when we both see reductions of over 70%.

i guess this thread should have been updated in the run up for xmas 2008.
anyway, remember that some of the earlier posts are pre/2007. at the time some of the sites were good.

one of the sites ive used last year and this year which is reliable
halfpriceperfumes.co.uk (they dont have much on these days)

ALOT of other sites have opened up, many with similar names, be wary as some of them have been reported for fraud etc.
  • Has anyone used www.theperfumeemporium.co.uk? That's not apparently the same as www.perfumeemporium.com.

Was recently looking for some perfume for my mum for her birthday, and bought from Fragrancedirect following comments on this site. The perfume arrived eventually, but the support staff were quite abrupt almost rude with me - and to this day have been unable to answer a few simple queries.

Here are my issues, if anybody can get a direct answer to these points - I'd love to hear it:

    1. Lead time for 1st class royal mail delivery is stated as 5+ working days. What they don't tell you (until your order is despatched) is that 5+ working days is from despatch, there is nothing on the website or their t&c's about this. Effectively they aren't saying anything about delivery times.

    2. Royal Mail First class, 5+ working days from despatch? Royal mail quote 1-2 days (including Saturdays). My package took 12 days to arrive from despatch. Fragrancedirect wouldn't comment as to why they quote 5+ working days for a service that quotes 1-2 days, or why my package took 12 days from despatch (and this wasn't in December).

From what they quote as a lead-time and from my experience, I can only assume they don't use fist class at all.

I'll be buying from elsewhere next time!
