  • Sure thing. I don't want people to think it WONT happen 100% though... as that's just not the case... The way technology goes these days..

But I'd recommend 1080p only for 360 and Disc Media anyway! I'd never recommend it due to Sky HD in 5 years.... :) So yes I agree on that...

Just to point out "Full HD" is not necessarily "Full 1080p", some crafty advertisers dont point this out, this applies to the DISPLAYED resolution, not to the input.

I would recommend the LG 42 plasma. (think its PC4255) or something

Tesco had them for £799, but around eBay etc you can get it for £650 delivered.

on the other hand, i want a screen with a VGA input, therefore i can get a wireless keyboard, and mouse then sit on the sofa using the tv as the computer screen..

Full review is about the 50" which is a bit big for my taste
    thanks :money:
  • Interesting that it doesnt do a 1080i resolution even though its got 9.4/10!!!!

personally I'd want a tv with a better contrast ratio and 1080p...

    What's the lifetime for a LCD tv ? 3 years ?

If you have HD dvd or HD games console I could see why you'd want one but I doubt HD Freeview will be here before 2009-12. Plus I guess you'd need a new box.

HD looks to me like they have rushed the hardware to market.

IMO there isn't anything on terrestrial television to justify spending the amounts suggested on a new television anyway.

LCDs and plasma are about the same for lifetime. Minimum of 60,000 hours (current and last gen. of LCD and plasma). Even leaving it on 8 hours a day everyday that's over 20 years! Not sure where you get 3 years from.

  • Yup they last for a LONG time... that's why personally i'd spend an extra few hundred on bigger and better quality.. simply to get value! I want it to still to be valuable in 6 years time for example.

ashm1, the BBC and ITV are launching Freesat next spring which will broadcast free HD content (and SD content). So anyone who wants to buy a receiver will be able to get some broadcast HD.
