Curbing the ridiculous

Hello RP.
I am very excited for your house move. Your DCs will be in orbit!2 -
@Alchemilla - thank you!!
DC1's undercrackers were £9.50. Spent £11.43 in b**ts as needed cotton pads for removing make up (on 3 for 2), cotton buds, and needed vitamin liquid for DC2. Vitamins were on 3 for 2 and DC1 about to run out of his gummy vits so got 2 x tubs of those (which were also reduced but then 3 for 2 also) so saved lots there on essentials.
Shopping was fairly ridiculous this week (and still a little more to get), but was quite a lot to top up on. Apart from the couple of things need to get today (ham, fruit and some veg), we should be good until next weekend bar milk top ups.
Owed my mum £70 for my dad's b'day present, gin and some vests I'd asked her to get for DC2. DH assured me he had paid it when they were here visiting (as in to her bank account) but she got her statement and transpires he had forgotten. So made him pay that across but it's £70 out of this month's budget I thought we had already paid which is irksome (not annoyed with my mum obvs, at DH!!).
Car service tomorrow and I think we will probably need some new tyres. So I do think we will be around three quarters of budget this month by the time we are done on 20th. But that's ok - we will still be saving something which is good.
Not doing an awful lot today - DC2 having a nap, so might take them to the park late morning, then lunch from stores and then to MIL's for a bit this arvo. Need to fill up with petrol then brief shop as set out above. Didn't make gingerbread men yesterday so will aim to do that with DC1 later.
Work tomorrow so got to get both DCs' bags ready for nursery as it's always a rush in the morning. Think am also going to grate a bunch of cheese for sarnies and keep in fridge to save time in the mornings. Been making myself miserable cheese sarnies to take to work to stop me buying southern fried chicken baguettes, but treated self to some branston yesterday and going to grab some ham today!2 -
Thankfully just £6.35 spent on bananas, apples, ham and pasta as they had no veg(!). We've got some frozen veg in freezer so will use that. Petrol almost £60 but think that will last until next pay day2

Sounding really positive for the house - fingers crossed - counting down the days for you.
you are doing well with the budget this month.Miserable cheese sandwiches ☹️..... where I worked many years ago the WRVS ran the sandwich bar - choice was cheese or ham or cheese and ham or cheese and marmite. They did, however, sell very delicious Chelsea buns.
Could you take some soup with you to cheer up the sandwich or a pot of chopped up cucumber and tomatoes? Surely the sandwich would be happier if you added some crisps into it?2 -

@Blackcats - thank you! Yesterday I added ham and pickle and so it was a lot nicer! Will def think about adding something else next week. Love the limited choice of sarnies at your old workplace - old style!!
Gah, so despite us doing really well on the budget, the car (which was already costing £300 to service) needs 4 new tyres and a fair bit of other work. So total including service going to be close to 1k! We have it, but annoying as means we won't save any "extra" this month whereas we were on track to save quite a bit. But this is our main car and it is important it works and is safe so we just have to suck it up. We are, however, moving next door to a chap who owns a garage (the garage isn't next door thankfully, just the owners!) so if we get friends with them then maybe we can get mates rates if we do some stuff in return. Our other car is, quite frankly, bu**gered! But we want to keep it as long as possible and use it for DH to drive to work twice a week (as he is going to WFH 1 day a week in the new house and will take the other car to drive to work on the days he's in the office and I will WFH so won't need the rubbish car) and lug horse manure/garden bits around. I think we'd eventually like an electric car but they are SO expensive (esp when we need a family car with a large boot) that we want to make both cars last as long as possible so that the tech on the electric improves and the cost comes down.
Have got to go to doctors today as have been having "flutters" in my heart for a few weeks. Am hoping it's just anxiety about the house but best to get these things checked out. Life insurance application on hold until have resolved this issue!
HB survey 930 this morning - arghhhhh!2 -
Hope the flutters are nothing. Moving house is very stressful.
I may have done some shouting when we moved.2 -
Sending all the good vibes to the house survey today!
Also, I love (vegan) cheese sandwiches. Pretty much my go to choice at home!My debt free diary

Doc thinks it might be linked to caffeine! So have a blood test and ECG thursday and will take it from there. He didn't seem too worried.
Thanks for the good vibes on the HB - yes, moving is VERY stressful and this will be the third (and final!) move in 16 months. We have had enough!!!2 -
I hear you with the car. Mine is now 8 years old and I need it to last as long as possible as I can’t afford a new/new to me one. I’d love an electric car, but as you say, they are too expensive right now.2025 decluttering: 4,908 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟2025 use up challenge: 351🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Mini freezer challenge 0/-20Big kitchen declutter challenge 115/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 5001
