So, SoLR for Avro is Octopus!  I just got the below email.  Note the bits I have bolded.  Now I had started a switch to E.on Next a few days before Avro went bust, and as per the below they are saying that will still go ahead.  However looking at the first bold bit about pricing, they may actually be cheaper than what I am switching to on E.on!  So now I am going to have to find out the exact rates that Octopus are going to be putting me on before my cooling off period with E.on ends at the end of the week.  If Octopus are cheaper or the same, I cancel the switch to e.on and go with Octopus.  Else I continue with the switch.  Just need to find out what rates Octopus are going to use!  MY e.on next rates are going to be 20.01p/kwh for elec, 3.85p/kwh for gas.

Ofgem, the energy regulator, has asked Octopus Energy to step in and look after Avro’s customers as the company has ceased trading.

Over the next few weeks, we will transfer you to our award-winning customer service platform on one of our great value tariffs.

We will be in touch with your rates and charges soon, but they will be cheaper than anything available from any other large supplier today — and cheaper than the fixed prices we’re currently offering new customers on our own website.

Once the switch is complete, you’ll be free to stay with Octopus with no exit fees, or switch to another supplier. You won’t be able to switch until then due to energy industry limitations.

If you’ve already started a switch to a different supplier, including Octopus, that should still go ahead as planned.

    Good to know:

    • Your energy supply will continue uninterrupted. You will not be cut off.
    • Any money Avro owed you is safe and will be credited to your new Octopus account as soon as possible
    • If you pay by Direct Debit, this will continue as usual and automatically start crediting us rather than Avro. Please do not cancel your Direct Debit.
    • If you’ve already cancelled your Direct Debit, that’s no problem — we’ll send you details of how to set up a new one soon.
    • If you are a prepayment customer, you will be able to top up in the same way you have been doing and will not lose supply

You can use their current Flexible Octopus tariff as a guide: https://octopus.energy/tariffs/
I believe this is already priced at or around the price cap (they've stated on the website the new tariff will be £10 below the cap). I think Eon will probably work out cheaper for you.

Yeah judging by the tariffs on their website I can't see it being cheaper than what I have signed up to, they are all way above the rates I have.

Current Flexible Octopus tariff  Oct v 1 is priced about £40 below the cap based on 2900 E, 12000 Gas - rates existing customers from previous flexible versions will be on from middle of October.
Octopus were likely to bring out v2 with slightly more expensive rates albeit below cap, likely Avro customers will be put on equivalent to that - £10 below cap
