They were OK for the 18 months I was with them. The only slight quibble was they were a bit slow returning my credit and I had to nudge them.
  • Risk of them going under ?

As much as any of the small suppliers, I suspect. Their prices have been quite so bargain basement for the past year or two so they might have reserves.

    Zog looking good.

Tony Chester and Andrew Cleveland, who founded the company, said that while they didn't have fears for their own company's survival they were worried about competition in the industry.
Meanwhile other small suppliers criticize the regulator

  • I am with Avro and, in July - instead of switching - I signed up for another 12 months fixed tariff. Oh well, I'm only £37 in credit and we have used more than £37 worth of gas & leccy so far this month. If Avro go under this week or next then so be it.

I cancelled my direct debit but if Avro are still in business come October, I will pay the bill using the "one-off payment" option on their website. I'm not sure what will happen if they go under and we get moved to another supplier - presumably I will need to set up a direct debit with the new supplier?
    If in doubt... do nowt.

The issue with cancelling the DD whilst still with them ,is that they can move you onto a more expensive tariff eg higher daily standing charges.
You will probably find that the new supplier (IF Avro go down) will ask you to set up a DD in the fullness of time.
I've been thru 4 previous SOLR processes and didn't leave the DD set up with the failed company. Only caused me an issue once when the SOLR tried to charge me a different tariff from the one they had moved me over to ,on the grounds that I hadn't set up a DD. I argued (successfully) that they had never asked me for bank details !!

And yet in the same article they list Bulb as "seeking government bailout."  And that graphic misses off an awful lot of the smaller suppliers anyway.

Perhaps, but the article also says:

The seven energy companies to have gone bust in 2021

    Simplicity Energy

    Green Network Energy

    Hub Energy

    PfP

    MoneyPlus

    Utility Point

    People's Energy

    Bulb Energy
