Bristol Airport NTK Stopping in a zone where stopping is prohibited

Hi, We went to Bristol Airport to drop off a relative. It was 4.50 in the morning and pitch black. We did pull over into a service area for 57 seconds and have received a NTK with a charge of £100.00.  There was absolutely no way I could see any signs as it was pitch black, and would not have full beams on because of other drivers. So I did not see any signage. Can I use this as an argument to argue my case? Thanks

Of course you can.  Have you read the newbies?  Have you complained to your MP?

Of course, no one should pay these scam no stopping zone PCNs.  "Outrageous scam" said MPs in 2018 and that's why a new Code of Practice and framework is coming in next year.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thanks, really useful and helpful posts. I will focus on the fact of not being able to see any signage as it was totally dark.....

But don't say who was driving, of course, as you will know, this is a basic matter in the NEWBIES thread.

You won't win the appeal, you know, you can't; it's a kangaroo court.  Read other Airport threads before asking anything else.

I would focus on if the driver ( no I or ME , The Driver ) was actually in the enforcement section or not , before anything else , never mind poor and inadequately lit signage !!  Take info from what fruitcake gave you and use it

No appeal is successful ,  so don't expect to have it dropped , don't blow your toes off !! Keep your ammunition dry , play the long game

Have a look at the maps in the contract and see where the car was. My case is one of three where the car was outside the no-stopping zone. There was another one where a motorist got a PCN for stopping at a Stop sign.

  • Hi Fruitcake. I have had a looks at the maps. I am still a little confused. Which is the map showing the areas where they are not contracted? My concern is that we MAY have been on the red lines when we stopped. However we were still unaware of the no-stopping signs as we could not see them. Will I still have a defence? Thanks.for your assistance.
