Hope you feel better soon and get some relief, strep throat horrible.
Fire looked awful, bound to affect the station for quite a while I imagine but relief no one hurt in it.

Yes. Such dreadful scenes in Glasgow last night.

Considerable frustration re matters medical. Went to the pharmacist, described my symptoms, said pharmacist was busy and asked me to come back in an hour. Came back, waited, described my symptoms to the same person who went and talked to the pharmacist. Came back again to say that they couldn't test for strep throat and that the pharmacist wasn't a prescribing pharmacist 🤬 Not clear to me why saying the same thing twice after wasting an hour of my time hanging about led to a totally different outcome, I am underwhelmed by "Pharmacy First", was trying to do the right thing by not bothering my GP. Strep throat is definitely on the list of things pharmacists can treat. In addition, I have never been tested for anything that led to antibiotics for a fairly recognisable condition in my entire life, GPs listen to your symptoms, take a look, prescribe straight away or occasionally give you the choice if they are undecided and have explained why this is the case.
Anyway, came home, waited 20 mins to speak to GP's reception, they took basic notes and said it did sound like I needed something prescribed and would check with the GP by 3 o'clock. I have nothing but praise for my GP but am slightly flummoxed about being encouraged to go one way when it doesn't look like the infrastructure exists to make it work smoothly.

I wonder if it is something about the pharmacists not being paid to do it. There is quite a lot of arguing going on at the moment about it. Not that it helps you with your throat of course. Hope you get sorted later today.

Hopefully not long to wait until you have your prescription 🤗

There seems to be a difference between a pharmacist and a prescribing pharmacist. I have heard of this problem before. It’s not very clear is it 🤷♀️

So apparently I score 0/4 for needing antibiotics - what the hell was on the back on my throat this morning?! 🤢 Kindly doctor gave had a quick chat with me, explained his reasoning, and prescribed a stronger painkiller so that I can get a bit more sleep over the next week until whatever the cold and flu residue is makes its way out of my system. Again, he was oddly willing to give me penicillin but I refused as he'd explained it wasn't appropriate. I wonder why he takes that approach and how many people take him up on the medicine they don't need? Nice guy, shortly to retire, so I expect he has his reasons 🤷♂️

I completely empathise, I'm fighting the residual chest congestion that triggers asthma here. I've even resorted to raiding my stockpile of three reactive inhalers - they always make me feel sick. And never mind the oil crisis, (we have enough heating oil for a few weeks) - it's a tissue crisis here!
Devastating fire to one of Glasgow's most iconic buildings. So very sad to see. What is lovely though, is the affection for the City that is evident in everyone who was interviewed on the TV clips. Be very proud of your City and its' residents!

I'm sorry to hear that @Suffolk_lass - I have occasionally wondered whether the girls have some form of asthma but DD1 has pretty much grown out of these suspicions already. I am trying my best to ignore the cost of petrol and gas, we're probably more insulated (literally) than most of the population and don't drive that much in the grand scheme of things.

Not entirely sure what the day holds for me. A hefty piece of work has come in that we will need to be involved with but I am not sure that the ask for my team is really that substantial at all. I suspect it may be a case of bosses wanting to be involved with the big thing. Will review the documents properly today and discuss a plan of action with my colleagues who will work with me to draw together our actual contribution, whatever that is.
