Have a lovely weekend - I recommend watching the replay of the team luge relay on repeat if you didn't catch it. My new favourite event at the WO. (Nothing to do with builders or carp, just pure competition, and exhilarating performances)
Fingers crossed for that builder on Monday (at least if he is collecting his kid from school he is not going to be of the old gnarly sucking air in through his teeth while shaking his head in a demeaning manner, school of "I know best" builder).
I had to really insist my builder here put shower board in our bathroom.
Him "You don't want that..."
Me "- Err Yes I do" (yes I do, yes I do, as the time got closer)
Him "I always do tiles..."
Me "How interesting, does that mean you don't know how to fit shower board?"
Him "No, of course not.."
Me - "Then I would like this shower board please, with an up and over shower tray, 1000mm x 900mm please"
Him "Oh that's not standard..."
Me "No, neither is our 17th century house but I have measured and it will fit
Him "Well I suppose I could but it would be at your risk..."
Me "Fine, shall I order it all or will you (to get your trade discount)?"
Him "I'll order it"
Me "Lovely, I've marked up what I think we need with this adhesive and these edging strips..."
Needless to say now he won't do tiles - we went round and his wife invited us to see their new bedroom/ensuite extension. "X won't use tiles any more, these boards are fantastic, no grout to go mouldy or leak, and they don't fall off... they were a real find!"
Me, "How lovely, you must be really pleased!"Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

My bathroom is all done with the boards not tiles. Bliss. Basically 10 second wipe down, job done.

Feeling a bit blue today - soaked on my usual walk up and down the steep hill while waiting for DD to get out of her drama class. I don't have much planned for the afternoon other than cleaning the aquarium, a bit of tidying and watching the rugby. As is the style, I have already done my weekly payments for Monday early
At least I have an excuse this time - both of my current accounts are switching on the same day! I'm planning on spending any rewards that actually pay out on a new pair of running shoes. I have made £5 payments to OP/CC/ISA. I have just realised that I can also add my ISA balance to my budget spreadsheet. It's only c. £100 or so, but every little helps to lift the spirits
Only £219k or so away from mortgage neutral*Edit: and £1.45 withdrawn from TCB7 -

Sorry you're blue, Ed, I hope the rugby is a bit exciting to compensate.2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
I have a cleaner who cleans tiles does that count? A bit of bleach also works wonders...
Sorry you are feeling blue - the phrase wet and miserable tend to go together. Hopefully now you've dried out you will feel better. My switches paid out much quicker than they said they would. I also really love the running shoes I bought over the new year period. - They are comfortable and beautiful.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit glum, Ed. You've done all the right adulting things (wife, home, kids, pets, activities for DD), but I wonder if that's left you feeling a bit overwhelmed knowing you have to keep earning at the same rate in order to support your growing family and paying the extended mortgage? If you're then not feeling happy in your work then that would put anyone into a funk.
