Put up our Christmas decorations. One of my most hated days of the year, 7 hours of supposed "fun" with overstimulated children and every bleep getting under my feet at every turn. I have told Mrs E that I will take a day's annual leave next year the day *before* decorations go up and I'll do all the donkey work in peace and quiet.
Anyway, house now looks fantastic. Two Christmas trees up, small fairy lights and illuminated candy canes along the path, fantastic IKEA "candles" everywhere and reeking of festive pot pourri
Yet more Christmas to come tomorrow, a couple of small festive LEGO sets to build and a cute box of Christmas-themed Japanese miniatures to unbox.
Booked a wee one-night stay at the hotel next to Edinburgh Zoo for the 1st of January. Edinburgh does free onstreet parking and extra events at the National Museum of Scotland that day, and we're booked in to see the lanterns at the zoo in the late afternoon. Don't have to pay until check in, so only holiday cost for now £63.50 for the lantern tickets.

I've enjoyed visiting the National Museum of Scotland on the few occasions I've been, in my head my last visit was a couple of years ago, I've just realised it was pre children and the eldest is 20+ (insert blue screaming emoji) eek. Looks like I need to plan a visit to Edinburgh.

First day at my new job tomorrow, physically going into the office. Shouldn't be too bad - meeting up with 4? senior managers and one of my new peers (who I've worked with for years in the past). Starting to get a little nervous, but no worse than my previous job (which I'd already spent 7 years at)!
A rather typical start to the day
We went to the Range to buy a storage unit for all of the children's craft nonsense (this currently takes up 2-3 shelves in our kitchen cupboard). We found the perfect thing almost immediately, then realised that we physically couldn't take it home as we had the pram in the boot of the car!
I avoided cursing and drove back after taking everyone else home.
Trying to take it as easy as possible this afternoon. Going to make a turkey pie from leftover Thanksgiving turkey for dinner. We've got some smoked pancetta and chestnuts, as well as some fantastic HM turkey stock, the rest of which I'll use for Christmas.8 -
Sounds like you got the storage unit in the end Ed, so a resounding success i say!
Hope tomorrow goes well 😊6 -
Thanks @Cheery_Daff
It is a rainbow coloured Really Useful Box one on castors - rolls in and out of our kitchen cupboard quite the thing. Will definitely reduce our children's ***** anxiety, so definitely a win!
I am enjoying a rare 40 minutes off before starting dinner prep, managed to fit in a few wee Prolific surveys to top up the old personal spends acc.8 -
