I was down to do 10 weeks a couple of jobs ago. My boss assured me he didn't think I'd have to stay that long, but it got to about 4 weeks before D-Day before he even advertised for my replacement....🤦♀️ Fortunately, I had assumed as much and agreed my new start date based on the full 10 weeks 😅!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

The sign off process for approval of the replacement of a role can take a while … I speak from experience.South_coast said:I was down to do 10 weeks a couple of jobs ago. A while back, in another life, I had to work 3 full months. In a sales role - what a pointless exercise - they actually thought I was going to create new business (rolls eye). I remember some very nice "picnics" in accounts at that time as was friendly with the accountant who didn't have enough to do and also had a few shopping trips to France under the guise of seeing potential clients culminating in a fabulous goodbye party with best clients in Europe that no one from the office came to but all my best clients did, and then, they moved to another company and my employer was surprised.
Some bosses are just wallys! Enjoy your 7 weeks.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!10 -
The stupid thing in my 3 month notice case was that I was on an open ended contract, dependent on external funding. I was being 'bridged' at that point, as the next bit of funding hadn't come in - it had already been delegated to someone else and wasn't due to start til after I'd left. So they could have saved a whole load of money by letting me go early - they weren't recruiting anyone to replace me anyway! Hey ho. Who knows what weird politics we're working behind the scenes (or maybe it was just someone not paying attention!)6

If they don't keep you to the bitter end then they don't spend all their budget which means next years will be reduced.5
