We’ve just been switched to fttp Ed and they had to drill through the wall at an angle right next to a (massive) window frame - they knew what they were doing though, which was a relief!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I always remind myself with work that in the end it’s fine, nobody died (I’m not a doctor!). I think work only becomes really important if you are providing a service (medical profession?) of if you really look at it as the only way out of a particular problem.
I have way overworked the last few years because it was the only way to get my head back above water. Am looking forward to the idea one day I can slow it down.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I have been through the hell of a sleep deprived day with a 3-year-old and survived!
Engineers arrived at 8:10 this morning and spent over 2 hours digging up the front garden, drilling through the wall with a drill bit the size of my arm and splicing fibers. In fairness to them, they left everything in very good nick and we now have broadband that seems to max out at about 700MB
DD2 had to be entertained upstairs the whole time, which was very challenging as a) I was listening out for the guys installing the cable b) trying to distract her from the noise (not a fan of loud noise) and c) half dead after sleeping from 11-4 last nightWe then couldn't leave the house all day as the second half of our Amazon Subscribe & Save order arrived and they are the only company that won't just dump the box at the back door. They didn't arrive until 2 this afternoon, so I was trying to entertain DD2 the whole time. In all honesty she was also tired after her week at nursery, so I leaned on TV a lot more heavily than I'm proud of.Finally got out of the house at 3:30 after the fourth load of laundry finished and walked DD1 and DD2 down to the high street for an ice cream from our lovely local Italian place (none for me). The exercise did me good and I felt a lot more sane.
Mrs E got back half an hour ago (had been at the office all day). I am a bit grumpy (already shared with Mrs E) because there was no reason she had to go to the office today (she has got into the habit of Fridays as it used to work with childcare drop offs that we no longer do). She could have WFH quite the thing (we still have Virgin for a couple of weeks), freeing up DD2 and I to be able to actually leave the house. Anyway, she was receptive to my line of thinking and I survived
Having a beer and feeling like I've earned the fish and chips that is on the way!
My S&S dividend pie seems to have turned a corner after negative economic news from across the pond, funny reason for rises but there you go. It has gained back 2/3 of what it lost this week and is now at over £1,500 after I topped up a share by a fiver that fell by 15% this morning due to some irrational market behaviour and then gained back 10% of that after I topped up. I quite enjoy plootering with fractional shares in my ISA when it's small sums, it's like a wee hobby that speaks to my interest in finance.7 -

You ought to be able to exploit that interest in finance; maybe a side hustle thing to show others how to build up some reserves while living well.
Oh BTW, I was also up just after 04.30 to deal with chicken in the slow cooker. It was spilling liquid over the side and onto the metal case the ceramic dish sits in, then dripping onto the counter. I could smell the slight burning smell, the other end of the house and on a different floor! I got to it before it poured over the edge (just) and did some decanting, swapping and early morning cooking to prepare lunch for 20 at 12.30 in my microwave-sized summer oven. Well I was impressed!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £10,020.92 out of £6000 after September
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £2234.63/£3000 or 74.49% of my annual spend so far (not going to be much of a Christmas at this rate as no spare after 9 months!

Ed, I'm not sure if I am remembering this correctly but at some point in the distant past did you not consider a career as an IFA? Could that still be an option?Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
