A frustrating day.Went to "Dog and Duck Day" at the Museum of Natural Life, which would have been fun if not for the fact that it was chucking it down with rain. Managed to drag half an hour of activities out for about two hours, then went to a grim East Kilbride McDonald's full of feral weans for lunch. £45 for a day out that left me just about ready to throttle someone.
Then on to Curry's to pick up our new printer (inkjet has been ditched as it was going to be £80 for a set of cartridges, and I don't have any luck with compatible ones). It took 45 minutes to set up the new printerTo top things off, Mrs E then messaged me with another £65 of sundry expenses. All of which she's perfectly within her rights to be reimbursed for, I just wish she hadn't let them gather up instead of sending them on as and when (I do remind her to let me know about costs so I can send her money asap).
Really not sure what to add
Edit: On the more positive financial front (which helps me relax as I can feel like I can control it, unlike real life):- £9.37 OPed
- £4 paid into my S&S ISA dividend pie
- Current work pension has now passed £8,000 pa from SPA, which is worth over £200,000 by the value I ascribe to it. DB pensions are now worth over £11,000 pa, I can take my smaller civil service one from 65 (I think)

I have every sympathy re the feral kids but unfortunately nothing much has changed. Over 30 years ago, my DSs birthday fell on a Saturday & we were staying with my parents. They often went out for pub lunches so decided to do that for his 10th birthday. We went to what they had always thought was one of their better (read more expensive) lunch spots. When we got there we were told we had to go on the verandah not the restaurant. Well we went there & it was manic. I mean kids running up & down. You could see my parents faces drop whilst saying okay where shall we sit. DS said do we have to eat here. Exit 4 people very rapidly. They never ever went back.5

I had such a laugh that you were in East Kilbridge - up until today a place I'd never heard of! Just 5 minutes ago I g00gled an address for Textile Heritage which just by coincidence is in East Kilbridge!
Sorry to hear that you had to endure feral weans today! We luckily only encountered one that was uncontrolable in the museum we went to and it stopped howling when OH told it to be quiet - the parents were nowhere to be found and it was running around making a nuisance of itself! Every other child in sight was sweet and nominally angelic, playing dress-up and fighting dragons with gleeful delight. I do sometimes wonder if a Child Catcher in the style of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang might be in order in everyday life to round up the wilder ones!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Of course the really awful thing is that we all scowl at the children when it is not their fault that their parents are MIA & letting them ruin everyone elses day. A fortnight ago a very young boy engaging with dad whilst waiting , no problem. Another very similar age lying on the floor screaming & I do mean screaming, no interaction, no where is your doll, nothing except continue screaming. Guess who got all the smiles.5

It was our own fault for going to McDonald's at lunchtime! The one bright spot was that our children were not being little horrors
They most definitely have their moments when they're tired and at home, but I'm remarkably proud of the fact that they are always polite and angelic (in public). I'll take what I can get.
The evening got a bit better. Didn't get my hour of overtime done, but all banking done, Mrs E has her returns label and we had a very tasty dinner. Sainsbury's had Boston "butt" pork shoulder on offer for £4/kg. I treated it to a dry rub in smoked Maldon sea salt, black pepper, and onion and garlic powder, 7.5 hours in the SC and then 25 mins in a hot oven to colour. Served with roasted new potatoes, steamed kale and corn on the cob, gravy (not HM today). My stomach is very happy
Dishes done and table tidied, enjoying a beer and 20 minutes of gaming before chasing DD1 to bed.6 -
Feral weans in EK. I am not surprised. They are every where now sadly.

One debt remaining. Home improvement loan.7 -
Another chilly start, feels extravagant to have the central heating on but it's only aiming for 18 degrees!
- Hour of overtime done at time-and-a-half
- £38 withdrawn from TCB (£30 to Home Improvements, £8 to OPs)
- £11.47 OPed
Off to MIL's for lunch today, otherwise things should be low key, we have leftovers from both cooked breakfast and dinner yesterday.7 -
Definitely getting cooler down here too. We haven’t had the heating on yet but we are lighting the wood burner of an evening now and putting the electric radiator on in the bathroom for the towels.Hope you have a quiet, calm, happy day 😊

A slow but calm day, that will do. Lunch done, DD1's swimming lesson over and some green pasta on the way for little stomachs.
