We have taken to buying some coffee bags for quick use. I know, but don't hang me as a heretic! We don't have any fancy machines, although I do still have my 50 year old liquidiser with a coffee grinder bit, that I use from time to time. I also have a Bodum cafetiere (and teapot), that we use with the same blend of coffee as the bags. I first tried them when staying in a lodge for travellers that had an M&essSF downstairs (and I couldn't face the room options) they are the said brand of Italian blend and very nice as a soft breakfast blend.
You seem to do well with the surveys. I tried a few this time last year and just found them really dull and inane (Ineos, eg) so I just stopped. Felt happier reading the paper onlineSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Def not hanging you as a heretic! I stayed in a hotel last December and tried the coffee bag option in room - delish! (The room also had fancy machine options too) Came home and bought them as a treat. I love real coffee but only use a cafetiere and these bags are a nice soft evening (decaf) option.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!8 -
In my (not so humble) opinion the only acceptable way to make real coffee is in a cafetiere. Could have something to do with me having been employed by the importers of the bodum one 40 years ago. I still have several. Plus filters plus the mugs & mats, plus..... Well you get the picture. I need a new kitchen but can you imagine how much stuff I really need to get rid of. The really bad thing is that real coffee now gives me the shakes & I used to live on it.8

@Suffolk_lass - I'd love to read the paper online if they paid me for itA frustrating day. Looking after DD2 but still not up to full horseplay levels after surgery, so we were in all day. Cue getting endless snacks for a 2-year-old and emptying her potty every 15 minutes.Thought I'd get a cheeky wee $10 from an AI study but it fell over again, I wonder if there's something up with Prolific itself? A wildly exciting £1.90 cashback from Chase today and 38p from TopCashback. I need to get better at accepting the quiet days. One of our walls has quite a bit of black mould just above the skirting board. It's a room with a very large window, and I've been sleeping in there for a few days as my snoring was annoying Mrs E. It's also off the kitchen, with a lot of cooking and tumble drying going on. Would a dehumidifier be an idea? I've never owned one but we get a *lot* of condensation. I'm not sure what's changed. We've been here for 9.5 years and haven't had any mould before bar a wee bit around window seals6

I must admit to really liking my dehumidifier, but it lives in the bathroom to cope with DSs 30 minute showers which an extractor fan certainly did not deal with. We are talking 1 hr dehumid versus 24/7 extractor fan & as for opening the window, useless. I am a big fan of ours as you can tell. We have had ours about 8 years now & it was an impulse buy then (an aldi special buy). If I had to replace it then I would go for one with an auto off switch. Either a timer or more likely a humidity level switch off.Do you have a humidity meter that tells you what the situation is, I got 2 for under £10 last year, they are not precise but give you a good idea of what your problem is.7

Another vote for a dehumidifier. Like badmemory, we use ours after DS's 30 min showers!
I find it keeps the house warmer too as the air is drier.7 -
