Appliance repair man has been out and replaced the brushes on the WM - £72. While I don't like spending money on things that break, that is a fantastic result considering there was less than 7 hours between me phoning and the machine being fixed. Good old fashioned service and a fair price vs. replacing it
I'm slightly embarassed to say that this is the only time we've had an appliance repaired, old me would just go on the AO website.
I have ordered a Japanese takeaway to try and make up for the Mother's Day meal that wasn't for Mrs E, just as well, I am starving after 3 days of reduced food intake.

Slightly cross today after being asked for an update by my (very) new boss whether I was returning to work (currently off sick). On the one hand, I had expected to return today and said this yesterday, on the other hand, I don't need to give any update until Thursday. I explained that I had expected to return but that my germ sharing children had other ideas and that I would update as required, explaining the absence notification points from the absence management policy to them. I was probably a little tetchy but is it too much to expect someone on £50k to know this !!!!!!?

I think I would have expected them to check the policy to ensure it is not deemed harrassment, if only to protect themself. It shows insensitivity if nothing else.
Well done on getting the washing machine fixed! I still use the hack that a forum gave me when our old machine door sticks with 1 minute to go. I do not know where the replacement part is now. I bought it but never fitted it (at least five years ago!)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

*Whispers* If one of my team was off sick and had said they thought they'd be back today and I hadn't heard from them again, I'd be getting in touch with them today to find out if they were back.... I wouldn't see that as harassment, it's my job to know whether they are at work or not.*Runs away with head down and ears covered in case I get shouted at by the MFW massive*Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!5 -
@South_coast - I didn't use the word harassment and freely admit to the potential of tetchiness. There is, however, an absence management policy and no obligation to offer daily updates if you're unwell.4

Withdrew a little bit of survey money from Prolific. £4.52 paid into my SIPP (£5.65 after tax relief). Noodling somewhat but I wonder if I will be able to exchange my SIPP for extra monies in the pension scheme if I'm successful in getting one of the Scottish Government adjacent posts I'm applying for?
