There's also going to be a 5% 'round up' offer:

They have to start from somewhere and this is actually a pretty good starting point. That cashback offer is better than most backs and the interest on the savings account for round Ups is better than any round up account I've seen.
For me it's very underwhelming.
The 1% cashback is good, but only for 12 months and they admit they have an option to withdraw it sooner than that.
The 5% interest sounds good but it's only on round up savings, so will only be on trivial amounts.
They don't offer an easy switching service - you have to download and print documents to post to them. That is really primitive compared to all other banks!
They are launching without the ability to do direct debits. Again really primitive and nothing like an account that's trying to tempt in, as was suggested, more mature customers to use it as their main account.
It comes across as ill thought through, not yet ready and missing its target audience. A bit desperate even.9 -

Why launch without DDs - it can't be that difficult for an outfit the size of Chase to set up a DD facility.
They only allow switches in if you download, print out and post to them. Switches will take '12 working days' What are they on? A new app-based bank that needs you to print stuff out (I know many people these days who no longer have a printer) and post it? Not even offering to send you the documents to post back? Not even trying to use the CASS system?
It comes across as an underfunded initiative from a small, underfunded start-up, not a mega bank.

The App is now live for IOS devices in the app store.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:1 -
A current account that does not offer customers the ability to set up Direct Debits !! I don't understand it3

Well I have downloaded the apple iOS app, it says join chase or do you have a code, I pressed join.
Sent to a webpage to sign up to a mailing list, put my mobile and email in. Few mins later got an email and text saying I am on the list and they would be in touch.
Also it states in the email that the card will be made from recycled plastics and not metal! It will be numberless with details only in the app. (the card in the image is clearly mental?)
Chase have made clear they are playing a long game so any hiccups like direct debit not being available yet, I am sure will be ironed out. The lack of direct debit however will be a big brick wall to anyone wanting to use this as their main account. Did a Brit explain this to anyone at Chase?Maybe they don't have them in the states?
Purpose-built for the UK
We're a bank that's purpose-built with UK customers in mind.
Our main headquarters are in London, and you'll find our Support Team's headquarters in Edinburgh.

You have to wonder what they've been doing. Back on the first page or so of this thread Ghostcrawler reported:Ghostcrawler said:They are still in a pilot phase offered only to JP employees in UK. They have been making constant upgrades and changes and bringing in new features. I am not sure how long the pilot phase is going to run. I can only say they are closer to the launch.
But the account omits basic facilities. What were those promised 'constant upgrades and changes and new features'? All we have seen is a (temporary) 1% cashback and a 5% interest on tiny amounts of small change. Oh, and a plastic card without a number on. Great.
Did JP employees not point out the basic needs of a UK current account?

Well without DD's at least they avoid people signing up only to use the account for a switching incentive at another bank
It will prevent people from using it as a main account though.1 -

Just so you know, you can’t set up Direct Debits using your Chase account right now. We’re working hard to bring them to you soon, though. Please check our social channels for updates.Soon so hopefully in the next month or two. Maybe it is deliberate or a result of some regulation processing delay outside the hands of Chase.
