Just signed up for this account, my first mobile only bank account.
Looks pretty good to be honest, 1% cash back is good - shame it’s only for a year - and I’ve enabled that round up for purchases so that it’s in 5%, not that it’ll be all that great as it’s just going to tot up but it’s better than nothing.
The travel aspect of the card is what nailed it for me, I’ve had a clarity card for yonks but was never too keen on withdrawing money with the interest that you had to pay, even if it was small. The Barclay card looks good as well but only .25% cash back.0 -

The only thing is don’t be too keen on using the debit card for purchases just because of the cashback where you might in the future regret not having section75 protection as on credit card purchases.0 -
I recently paid my Green Flag breakdown renewal with my Chase card, without expecting it to attract cashback, and it did. I had anticipated it would be ruled out because of the insurance exclusion.2

In the beginning the chat sessions were left open for a while so that you could have a dialogue with the same person.
It doesn't matter whether it's the same person or a different person - attempt 1 at resolving just about any issue is almost always a fail.
It's happened where attempt 2 is a fail too & you're left wanting to send your head through the nearest wall but the vast majority of the time attempt 2 seems to sort it.
I'm just bemused why we seemed to always need attempt 2.
Some of it I totally get. I'm not an idiot. Some times I'll be unsure how to word my problem so I can totally forgive them for getting it a bit wrong as I read my message back every time & some times I'm like yeah, that wasn't worded too great.
But most of the time it's pretty clear what I'm asking & they still don't get it.miller said:B0bbyEwing said:Does anyone else with Chase feel the need to take a few happy pills before getting on the chat service to them? Never have I experienced something so painful!
Is this app only or PC too? Could be handy that. I was always disappointed that they didn't seem to have one.Daliah said:Just register a formal complaint with Chase if their CS give you the run-around on the same issue. Take a copy of all the evidence documented in the chat, just in case it magically vanishes once there is a complaint about it.0 -

As for milk, bread etc I’ve never felt the need to have the S75 for those types of transactions.0 -
Isn't the S75 protection only applicable to spends over £100 so the odd grocery purchase wouldn't be covered by either method?0

In fact, emptied our accounts with Lloyds to put them all in Chase accounts (Lloyds interest is 0.1% - 0.5%).
Yes, there are other banks with better deals but unless the deal is amazing, I like to keep my money close rather than a random account somewhere else that I may forget.0 -

Just today I've closed some off & put in to Chase. Tomorrow I hope to finish off simplifying our banking.
If you check out: https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/education/education-resources/borrowing-savings-calculator then Chase will get you £15 on £1k yet if you check out https://www.landc.co.uk/calculators/interest-calculator/ apparently you get £12. Going like for like, that Al Rayan if you use the £15 link only gets you £6 more over a whole year.
For some it suits. Good for them.
You sound a little like where I'm at. I'm not going running around for an extra £6 over the course of a whole year. Maybe if I was already with the bank but then you need to draw a line somewhere, or at least I do. So week 1 you move but then week 2 someone comes out with 2.11% so you're changing again, then someone is out with 2.12% the week after so you're changing again to nab a few more pence.
Good for those who want to or who have so much savings that 0.01% higher gets them an extra £200 but each to their own.
And nobody is wrong either which is the nice thing about it, we're all right0
